No matter the person, everyone wants to have money. For some people, they make millions of dollars, so they don't have to worry about spending too much money.
However, for the average person, they have to choose between things in order to not spend too much money. Not to mention, the average person also wants to maintain a stable amount in their bank account.
With that being said, a lot of people want to save money but want to be able to buy things that they need or want. The following is a list that will help those people who want to save money and spend it at the same time.
Download GasBuddy.
GasBuddy is an app you download on your phone and it will use your location to let you know not only the closest gas station but the gas station's near you with the cheapest price.
It also has giveaways for $100 gas cards and if you shop at certain stores partnered with them, you get a certain percentage of a gas back reward.
You'd be surprised how many stations there are with such a different price range. In the long run, this will save you a pretty good amount of money.
Buy things from the clearance section.
Very seldom do I ever buy anything that isn't marked down? I do this because I know that there will be things I like on the clearance rack.
Also, when you buy something cute off the marked down rack, there's this little thing inside of you that thinks, "wow I can't believe I bought this for ___ and it was ___ originally."
A prime example (and a buy I'm very proud of), I needed a new suitcase. I wanted to look at Marshall's because things are already a pretty good price there and they have brand names so I looked there first.
Originally when I walked into the store, I just wanted a hard-shell carry on because that was already $60 and that was about as much as I wanted to spend at most.
My friend next to me said, "Nat look at this one and it's $23." It was a CalPak hard-shell suitcase that was double the size with a much cuter pattern. Needless to say, I got the $23 one.
I could've walked out of there with a recipe saying I spend $60 for a carry-on, but because I looked at the clearance section, I ended up getting a bigger suitcase for less money.
Download Honey.
Honey is an online app that automatically applies all the coupon codes that can be found on the internet when you go online shopping.
Honey doesn't always have coupons to use, but most of the time, they do. Personally, I haven't had it save me a drastic amount of money, but it has saved me a few bucks here and there. Every dollar counts right?
Know the difference between a good deal and a bad one.
From a girl's point of view, underwear is something that's usually bought as a deal. For example, PINK has deals like 5 for $28.50.
However, you can go to Tilly's and get the same material and same styled underwear 5 for $16.
Unless you're super picky about brands of underwear and only wear Victoria's Secret, Tilly's obviously has a better deal here. So when you go shopping, know the difference between a "steal" and someone trying to rig you out of your money.
Go to consignment stores.
In Springfield MO, I have been to two consignment stores. Plato's Closet and Uptown Cheapskate. Both of these places sell name brand items for a good price.
From Plato's, I've bought a pair of Nike Sweats for only $11 and a lot of other things for lower prices. From Uptown Cheapskate, I've bought a Kendra Scott necklace for $29 and so many other name brand things that are never the full retail price.
Another great thing about both of these stores, if you bring them your clothes you'll receive cash or store credit. So not only can you spend money here, but you can also make money.
Look on Amazon.
Amazon has saved me a lot of money.
They have a ton of brand names like Vera Bradley, Chaco, Crocs, Under Armour, and so many more. They have a wide range of different styles and prices on just about anything you can think of.
Not to mention they also have Prime. Prime not only gives you free and 2-day shipping, but it also has a movie and music streaming service. It's like Netflix, but 10x more the variety.
Don't put everything on a credit card.
This sounds pointless and you may be wondering, "How does the form of money I have save me money?" Well with cash it is so much easier to limit yourself and keep track of exactly how much you have left to spend.
With a credit card, yes you may be able to check your amount balance from your phone, but in a spur of the moment kind of thing, it's hard to stop yourself or limit yourself with how much money you spend.
With cash, you can physically see and count how much you have left to spend for the rest of the day or however long that money needs to last you.
Personally, I use my credit card for gas, big total costs, or sometimes food if I need to. I use cash for shopping every single time I go and I like to have cash when I travel because once again, it is easier to keep track of.
Buy from closet clean out pages on social media.
GiphyOn social media, there are thousands of closet clean out pages.
People want to sell their used clothes to make money. This tip goes along with the consignment shop point mentioned before, the only difference is you don't have to go to into a store to buy it, and the person selling the clothes isn't going to offer store credit.
Some people sell items that have never even been worn before with the tags still attached, and you can still get it for a price cheaper than original retail cost. Closet clean out pages aren't just meant for clothes either. On some pages, there are wallets, phone cases, makeup bags, jewelry, picture frames, anything the seller wants to get rid of.
You don't always have to buy from a brand name.
Just about everybody wants the brand name item, no matter if it's to fit in or if they think the brand name is actually a good quality product. There are sometimes I care about brand name items and other times I don't.
For clothes, I couldn't care less what the brand is as long as it looks good on me and it's not a cheap material that I know I'll wear for one time and never be able to wear again.
For suitcases, phone cases, anything that is going to be holding or containing something else that is very valuable or expensive, I want to make sure that the item is good quality.
You don't always have to buy the brand name in order to have something that's good quality.
