Long Distance Relationships

Our generation has a hard enough time finding love, so when you find it, why not keep it? Having someone within arm’s reach is nice but, nowadays, it is becoming more and more common to do long distance. Here are five reasons  -- straight from your friends in the Wisco Greek world who are doing it -- on how to make it work and why you can.

5. Communication. We all know how much time we spend on our cell phones, but in the case of a long distance relationship, it is so easy to stay connected. You can text, Skype, or even fall asleep to each other’s voices -- which is kind of weird, but to each his own. Granted, it’s not exactly the same, and you don’t wanna be that clingy girlfriend or boyfriend who needs to know what your significant other is doing at all times, but if you want to talk, you can. You could be that really cute couple and write letters to each other.

4. Be your own person. It is really cool to have someone who is your other half. Although this is great and all, long distance still gives you the chance to be your own person. If you are an independent person, you still can be. Going to the gym or running errands? You can do that alone and in your own time and space.

3. The best weekend vacations. Missing your significant other a little too much? You can book a plane ticket, take a mini roadie, or even the train to see them. This gives you the perfect opportunity for adventure. And the best part? You get to spend time with them and experience something new and exciting. They, most likely, go to a school that is different than yours and you get to shake up your Insta with some rad new school colors.

2. Going home alone. This might actually suck. But, you get to sleep in your own bed and sprawl out. Also, you won’t have to worry about waking up with some major messy hair and bad breathe with some rando who took you home last night. You also don’t have to feel bad when you don’t get asked home because you know that your man/woman would have asked you home. anyways.

1. The reunion. Whether it is days, weeks, months -- or even years -- it will be worth it. And you will be that much more thankful that you are together when you are. Your friends will follow your relationship and root for you the entire time. It may seem stupid and our generation may seem “too cool” for love, but we aren’t. Love is worth it, so put the time and effort into your relationship and you never know what could come out of it.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
