Will we keep up the points after the Sugar Bowl?
The Sooners ended their annual fall camp last Friday and now a new chapter of Sooner football begins. Many changes were made this year to the team such as position adjustments, a change in the alternate uniforms and the addition of new players.
The hype for this season is at an all-time high right now, because our team is coming off of a Sugar Bowl victory and we were selected as the Big 12 favorites, but this has not stopped the team from working hard this summer and trying to improve in all areas of the game. The loss of some of our key senior players had many people concerned about how Stoops and his coaching staff would fill those gaps.
Last season, Jalen Saunders was our main punt returner and now Sterling Shepard is the leading contender for this job. Shepard has all of the physical tools to excel at this position and make a name for himself.
Many of the players have stepped up and taken on positions that they may not be familiar with. Julian Wilson was converted from safety to cornerback after his outstanding performance at fall camp and many believe that his past two years of on field playing will be very beneficial to the team this season. There are still many positions battles on the defense that have not been decided on yet, but the fans will know by the first game.
It is no secret that Trevor Knight will be the starting quarterback this season. Knight gained a lot of experience last season and is ready to lead the Sooners to many victories this year.
With everything that has been added to the team and all the preparation that the team has done, the Sooners have a strong chance at possibly being the best team in college football.
