10 Couples Costumes You Don’t Need a “Ken” For

Love couples costumes, but don’t have a man to go trick-or-treating with? Just take your best gal pal! You’ll have a great time doing the monster mash, and you can still rock that clever couple’s costume. Here’s a few of the best costumes for all you independent women who don’t need no man:

1.  Cristina and Meredith from "Grey’s Anatomy"

Celebrate your friendship by dressing up as the ultimate best friend duo. Two sets of scrubs with long sleeves underneath will do the trick. Crazy curls are very Cristina, and a mid part, waves and a smise (smile with your eyes) screams Meredith. Don’t forget your Seattle Grace Hospital ID badge so people without Netflix will stop asking you, “What are you supposed to be?”

2.  Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen

Overalls and a smile is all it takes to be America’s favorite sisters. Brightly colored tops underneath and matching scrunchies give added charm to an outfit that will transport you straight to the 90s.

3. Ellen and Portia

Nothing beats everyone’s favorite comedian and her beautiful spouse. For Ellen: jeans, converse, polo, blazer and a wig to top it off. For Portia: Maxi-dress and heels.

4.  Sophia Grace and Rosie

The adorable duo made famous by Ellen is easy to replicate. All you need is some cute tiaras and the fluffiest tutu in the kingdom. Curly hair and a touch of lip gloss make you and your bestie ready to hit the town. Bonus points if Rosie spends the whole night silent while Sophia Grace doesn’t stop talking/singing/dancing.

5.  Destiny’s Child

If your power duo is more of a trio, rock it out as Destiny’s Child (no fighting over who gets to be Beyoncé). Decide on a color, then design each of your outfits around that scheme. There must be at least one crop top, one jacket, one pair of flare pants and hoop earrings all around.

6.  Elsa and Anna from "Frozen"

If a mutual love for all things Disney brought you two together, then showing up at a college Halloween party as the sisters from a popular children’s movie is for you. You must have basic braiding skills to rock this costume. Elsa needs a French braid and Anna needs pig tails. A long sleeved blue dress works best for Elsa. Though channeling your inner Anna is a bit more difficult, a turtleneck and maxi skirt get the point across.

7.  Alex and Piper from "Orange is the New Black"

Are you the friend to bail BFF out of jail, or end up right there beside her? You can test the prison-wife lifestyle for a night without actually going to jail. Khaki pants and tan colored short sleeves over gray long sleeves make a prison-chic combo. For Alex, don’t forget the boxy glasses and some fake tattoos.

8.  Miley Cyrus and Miley Cyrus

Rock “the best of both worlds” as Modern Miley and Flash-from-the-Past Miley. For Old Miley, you can’t go wrong with a sundress, cowboy boots and pretty curls. New Miley can be achieved with a leotard, or crop top and spanks, with red lipstick and, of course, that quintessential hairdo.

9.  Serena and Blair from "Gossip Girl"

Be the friends you wish you could be for a night.  For Serena, go with loose waves and an animal print over a flowy yet fashionable outfit. Blair needs a perfectly matched headband to go with her super-prep skirt and top, paired with colored hose.

10. Lizzie and Isabella from "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"

This costume is “what dreams are made of.” Both girls need sparkle tops in their respective colors, flare pants, boots and bedazzled chokers. For extra star status, use a wire hanger and black pom-poms to make matching headsets. With this outfit, you’ll have the boys going, “Hey now, hey now!”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
