10 Life Lessons I Learned Thanks to Forest Gump

As the great Forest Gump said "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." Life is unpredictable one day you're sitting on your couch just watching a movie with your roommate and the next day its like the world flipped upside down and you have no idea what's actually going on and how you are going to get through the day let alone the week. Forest Gump maybe one of the greatest life lesson movies that people all too often forget about or disregard. There are so many life lessons he can teach us just through the movie but to me these are the top 10 most important.

1. Always tell people that you care for them, all the time, no matter what. Life is short so spread the love.

Forest is always sure to tell the people he cares for just how he feels. There's no hesitation, no matter what.

2. Don't be afraid to love an don't be afraid of losing someone.

Forest loved a lot especially Jenny but he also lost a lot of people but that never stopped him from loving people deeply and intensely even though he knew he would lose them in the end.

3. Honesty is good, no matter who you are talking to.

Forest was brutally honest but it the nicest way. You knew exactly what he was thinking all the time.

4. Do the right thing even if someone tells you it's the wrong thing.

He may not have wanted to be saved but in the end Forest knew it was the right thing to do, so he did.

5. Always try new things.. you never know you could be the People's Republic of China Ping Pong Champion.

6. Be yourself, what is even normal?

Forest never changes himself for someone. When Jenny ran away he didn't change who he was so she would comeback and love her and he didn't change after years of being bullied. Forest stayed true to who he was, even if that who he was wasn't "normal."

7. Think about what you say because people will forgive but they never forget.

Forest repeats a phrase to Jenny that she said to him in a few years back. It reminds you that people will remember what you say if it's powerful enough.

8. You never know what an everlasting impact you could leave on someone or who you could inspire along the way.

Forest has a unique way of inspiring people and making an impact, even when he wasn't trying too.

9. Treasure every friendship no matter how big or small, you never know what could come of it.

10. Do what you love, no matter how crazy it seems.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
