To My Best Friend Who Is Still In High School

1. When I told you that you could never be replaced, I wasn't lying.

Sure, you see other people constantly on my Snapchat stories, you see me Instagramming pictures with my sorority sisters, and you see me constantly tweeting my roommate, but you also saw me transform from the 14 year old who was obsessed with Ke$ha and had a feather in her hair, into the person I am today. You saw me at my strangest, and you still never stopped loving me. My college friends may also be my best friends, but you know you'll always be my number one.

2. I miss you like crazy.

When I told you I wanted to pack you up and take you to college with me, I was seriously contemplating actually kidnapping you and forcing you to come. You have no idea how much of a roller coaster college truly is, and I wish more than anything that you were here, holding my hand through the ups, downs, and round and rounds of this ride. But in a sense, you kind of are. There are pictures of us everywhere in my dorm room. You basically watch me sleep. It's fine.

3. “Are ya'll like, dating?"

No. Yes. Maybe. Define dating? Cause if you mean two people that really like each other and enjoy each other's company- people who go out together and laugh whenever they text each other, hold hands and hug a lot, then yes. But if you mean someone I want to potentially marry, still yes…except she's my soul sister. And you can't marry your sister. It's complicated.

4. Long distance sucks, but we've totally survived.

For most people, long distance friendships are a burden and super tough to follow through with. But BFF, we are not most people. Sure, sometimes we were both a little out of sync. Different schedules and lives will occasionally get in the way. However, we both know that we are in a committed long-term best friend relationship, and we made a vow and pinky swore to be in each other's lives forever. We don't break pinky promises.

5. Thank you.

Seriously. Thank you. Even though I don't live ten minutes away from you anymore, and I can't just hug you whenever I want, sometimes I don't even feel like I'm far away from you at all. You are always the first person I call when I'm in the midst of an emotional break down. We are constantly sharing links and tagging each other on Facebook. We send selfies to each other all day, every day. I ask you what I should wear before I go out. Whenever we Facetime or Skype, I feel like we are in the same exact room (remember when I asked you put nail polish on my left hand and totally forgot that we were nowhere near one another?). College has been crazy, but you've never failed to be there for me when I needed you.

6. Three words, eight letters.

You are the epitome of a perfect friend: you have the kindest soul, the purest heart, you're super weird, and you have really cute clothes. I'm not giving up on you, ever. I love you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
