Zayn Malik Vs. Calvin Harris: An Overview And Explanation

The latest news on Twitter recently involved ex One Direction member Zayn Malik and DJ Calvin Harris. The two of them, with their harsh tweets and replies to each other, show that the public has a very strong reaction to a dispute between two celebrities.

The dispute started when Malik offhandedly retweeted something about how he disagrees with Taylor Swift's opinion about getting paid for music. Harris, coming to his girlfriend's defense, called Malik out on Twitter.

This probably wasn't the smartest move by Harris, especially noting Malik's recent past with Twitter fights. Not only has Malik recently fought over Twitter with One Direction member Louis Tomlinson, he also sent in a harsh tweet about Naughty Boy, somebody who took Malik's side in his Twitter fight with Tomlinson. Not only has Malik been acting up on social media lately, but he also has broken up with his fiancee Perry Edwards and has tweeted offensive things about Perrie's group, Little Mix.

Now that you have a review on Malik's interesting behavior since he split with One Direction, we can focus on the real topic of discussion, which is this week's Twitter fight between Harris and Malik.

First let me start out saying this: It is hard for me not to immediately defend Malik. I have been a One Direction fan since the beginning, and although I'm not a crazy "Directioner," I still love the band. Malik was always my favorite out of the group, and I loved his voice the most. Normally in a situation like this, I would always back up Malik. However, this case is a little bit different from the rest.

As I mentioned before, it started with Malik retweeting two quotes, one from Miley Cyrus and one from Taylor Swift, both regarding streaming music (listening to music without paying for it). The caption of the tweet was "The difference is astounding." After Malik's retweet, Harris tweeted this: (The image below contains profanity).

But Harris did not stop there. He continued: "If you don't get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry...then stay out of my f***ing mentions. While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there's some poor f***er in a basement trying to survive. Meaning...stay out of things you don't understand."

Whoa. Let me just point out that Harris obviously didn't know who he was up against. Malik has been the king of all Twitter fights lately, and he certainly didn't back down this time either. Malik fired back at Harris, saying that he was not trying to personally attack Swift, but he was agreeing with the statement in general. Malik tweeted that Harris was "making a fool out of himself." Malik's other tweet included something a little more personal, saying, "you clearly don't understand what I just said, either. So I suggest you calm your knickers before your dentures fall out."

Personally, this was my response to that tweet:

After Malik's string of tweets in response to Harris' initial attack, Harris backed down. He said, "it was the quote, not you personally mate." He went on to compliment Malik's voice and to wish him luck on his career.

Malik, keeping up the bad boy reputation he initially gained while singing for One Direction, responded: "Oh, and I write my own sh*t too, d***head."

I think we can all agree that the Calvin Harris vs. Zayn Malik fight, although it has no actually meaning to society, was definitely a way to spice up our Twitter feeds for the day. Also if you're looking for some sassy tweets, go ahead and follow Malik on Twitter. You will not be disappointed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
