You've Got A Friend In Me

(Girl)Friends: a person who gives assistance; supporter.

I am not going to lie. Besides looking forward to snuggling with my furry four legged friend, again, seeing my long lost friends once and embracing them back into my life was what I was most excited for. This long joyous break was an eye opener when it came to my friends. I was able to settle my nerves about the fear of whether we had all moved on to our new and exciting college friends. I realized we had become even closer than before we left. We all were graced with our own unique qualities from college such as different sororities, new boyfriends, and even culture shocks for some. That did not stop the ever-famous GNOs, but more like the GNIs that we had in store.

I have come to realize that even throughout your friends’ own journeys through college, you all share a special bond. Not to sound cliché, but, you are sisters who always have each others' bacsk, even if you are Big Ten rivals. Even throughout the ups and downs from our college experience, hometown friends give you clarity on who you are, and who you want to be with the assistance of their love and laughter.

This break meant a lot to me in many different aspects. For instance, I was able to share my fears, dreams, and realizations from college as my friends shared their own dreams and fears. I realized that girlfriends share a different dynamic then boys may do. We, girls, are able to be that literal shoulder to cry on and provide support through the worst of times. They are also your biggest fan club, with the support and confidence that they have in you to achieve goals, which could even be something as simple as bowling without bumpers.

I also realized, that friends are the ones I can be my utmost outrageous self with -- like dancing on my countertops until 2 a.m., or being the only people under 40 at Bakers Square because of a pie craving. I use to just see friends as a fun Friday night or a silly Snapchat conversation, but friends have become so much more of an outlet of support, love, and inspiration. Let's just say that this break, I realized a bunch of things about what my girlfriends mean to me. See you all at the Bachelor, finally!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
