Leaving home and going to college means leaving behind many comforts which you have become accustomed to. Whether it's your dog, or your bed, or your mom's home-cooked dinners -- there is always something that you cannot wait to go home to. Here are 10 things most college students miss from home when they go off to school:

1. Your pet

Seeing a dog while walking to class will make any college student's day.

2. Your Shower

Cold, rusty college showers with no water pressure just aren't the same

3. Your Car

Walking everywhere is tiring (literally)

4. Your Bed

The dorm beds aren't very comfortable. Plus, most college nights are spent on the futon anyway.

5. Home-cooked meals

As fun as it sounds to eat pizza every day... it's not.

6. Your local friends

Missing all your friends that went to other colleges is the WORST.

7. Your Family

While your dorm-mates become your family away from home, there is nothing like spending quality time with your real family.

8. Privacy

There is no such thing as alone time in college. Living in a dorm takes the lack of privacy to a whole new level.

9. Sleep

If you thought you didn't sleep in high school, you have no idea what you are in for in college. A cozy night's sleep in your own bed, in your own room, in your own house is all that a college kid dreams about.

10. Your hometown favorites

Everyone has that one coffee shop in their hometown that they go to every day, or that one restaurant that serves the BEST pancakes in the world, or even that one ice cream shop that makes flavors no other place can match. These are all places that college won't be able to mimic... and it makes you yearn for home just a little bit more.

But, despite missing all these things from home, college is a place that is unlike any other -- and you will make memories that you never even expected to make. So enjoy all the times you get to go home, but soak in every moment you spend in college -- and don't spend too much dwelling on missing home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
