Nothing is more exciting than going to college. You're away from your parents, you get to meet all kinds of new people, learn a wide variety of new subjects, and party all night long. As long as you don't forget to make it to class on Monday, you can do whatever you want. And when it's all over, you just want to go back.

1. Your excitement as an incoming freshman

This is not like high school where you're the low man on the totem pole. You will have classes with other freshman who also have no idea what's going on. But it's going to be great!

2. Move in day

Trying to fit all your stuff into a tiny dorm room is the ultimate game of Tetris.

3. Meeting your new roommate

Here's to hoping they'll be your new best friend and not your new enemy. You do have to live with this person for the next year.

4. Picking out your major

There are so many subjects to pick from! Do I major in Psychology or Business or Music or Education? How to choose?! While your parents tell you "make sure it's something that you like but will get you a job where you can make a lot of money, so we can come and live with you when we're old."

5. Joining a new organization

Involving yourself in new things can be exciting!

6. Trying to make new friends

Trying not be to weird around new people is hard.

7. Walking in on the first day of classes

First impressions are everything.

8. Trying to handle all your coursework

Professors are tougher, the coursework is larger, and there's less time to do everything.

9. Going out to parties with your besties

There's nothing better than getting all dolled up and having fun with your best friends.

10. Recovering after the party

The next morning, however, is never fun.

11. Cheering on your team at the sporting events

Go team! Now throw some free stuff my way.

12. Living together with your friends off campus

No more random fire alarms in the middle of the night. No more loud neighbors. Just you and your friends having the time of your life in your own place.

13. Struggling to pay actual bills like rent and utilities

Unfortunately your new place comes with actual adulting: paying rent, utility bills, food, and cable. Why does everything cost so much?!

14. Trying not to be annoyed with the underclassman

Watching the new freshman trying to find their way around campus is almost hysterical, and you just want them to get out of your way. It's hard to believe you were one of them once.

15. Attempting to figure out your plans after graduation

Do I apply for jobs? Do I go to graduate school? Do I take a gap year? I don't know!

16. Finally graduating

While these have been the best four years of your life, it's time to move on. Every ending brings a new beginning.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
