I was very hesitant to go to Young Life camp, fearing all we would do is dive into scripture and play a few games here and there. I was informed it would be the best week of my life. I didn’t believe an ounce of that statement, believing surely it was fabricated and a slight exaggeration. I could not have been any more wrong. As I attended this Jesus-loving camp that's covered me in Cheetos and whipped cream, sunshine, and surrounded me with good people. The place that's showed me what it is like to fully live and live well…
Young Life camp isn’t just a typical summer camp. Yes, we played a few games, told countless campfire stories, and headed home. But, we didn’t just “head home.” We went there as complete strangers or friends and came back as family who had more than one thing in common. But, one thing we all shared was one unforgettable week.
At camp, you are well loved and celebrated. There was a tunnel of people surrounding us as we entered. Each of them was dressed with the biggest smiles and giving campers plenty of high fives, hugs and cheering when we arrived.
Young Life camp is a time to be yourself completely. I remember how vulnerable people were and it made me aware that everyone has struggles, just some are better at hiding them. I remember my sister was sharing a story, I felt was extremely personal and I vividly remember how embarrassed I was that she felt comfortable enough sharing such intimate details with people outside our family and close friends. Camp brought a sense of trust and comfort to each camper.
New friends are made. After a nap, I went with a friend just wondering around campus and we came across a few people who were hiding from the unbearable heat making friendship bracelets. They were from Melbourne, Florida and they were some of the sweetest girls I ever met. Camp allows you sacred opportunities to meet some of the most incredible people who strive to become better people.

The food is amazing. It wasn’t just the people that made it so great… THE FOOD! Each meal, I devoured and left wanting more. (They fed me plenty but good food always has me wanting more)
Young Life camp, where I've had the easiest hellos and the hardest goodbyes. I’ll always remember you, as one of the best weeks of my life. From the French braids and plaid shirts, the endless supply of the most incredible view, the adventures and friendships, relatable talks and people, good music and good memories.
