Delaware County, or Delco, is a county just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Delco is where everyone knows everyone. All residents show pride of their town in Delco, but yet we all are waiting to get out! However, we simply can't leave! Even though all of us claim to hate Delco, we just can't seem to move away from it! Delaware County, Pennsylvania isn't just a little suburban place to live; it's a way of life.

You know you are from Delco when:

1. Someone tells you that you sound funny.

We all have that heavy Delco accent that everyone loves. It surely is unique!

2. You vacation at the Jersey shore.

Whether you are taking a day trip to the Jersey Shore or renting out a house in Sea Isle for the week; it's a vacation we all enjoy! Especially the boardwalk pizza: Manco and Manco, or Sam's.

3. You go shopping at the Springfield Mall.

No one is truly a fan of the Springfield Mall, yet we all shop there anyway! When we aren't that lazy, we can hike it up to KOP!

4. You do the same thing every weekend.

If you're underage, chances are you drink, or have drank in the woods of Delco. If you're of age, chances are you drink at a local bar: Barn's or Maggie's. Or let's get our friends together, and have a lunch date at Panera, or Chipotle!

5. While in grade school, you attended a grade school dance.

If you're older, you definitely attended a Holy Cross dance. As for my generation, Kev's dances were the place to be!

6. You tell people that live out of state that you are from "Delco, PA," or just say "Philly."

We all consider ourselves to be "from" Philly, even though we aren't. Just makes things easier.

7. "Do you know...."

When you meet someone else that is from Delco, you instantly have a bond. Chances are you know the same people, but for some reason not each other! Delco truly is an interesting place!

8. You can't go to a store without seeing someone you know, or seeing a family member.

"I hope they didn't see me, I hope they didn't see me !!"

9. WAWA is your second home.

We all love the hoagies and gas all in one stop!

10. We are blessed with some amazing pizza places.

Picas, Gaetano's, Jano's, Thunderbird, Double Decker, Imperial, Coco's... are a few to name.

11. You live in a five-mile radius from your family members.

"You should go over and see your grandfather today!"

12. You probably have a million cousins who aren’t really your cousins, but your families are so close that you still consider them cousins.

"They're not really my cousin, but it's my mom's best friend's kid... it's just easier to say!"

13. When the weatherman announces snow and your whole neighborhood is in your local Acme or Giant.

Everyone grab some bread, eggs, and milk!

14. You deal with potholes on the daily

They are a burden we all try to avoid!

15. Chances are that you attended a local school for college.

Temple, West Chester, Penn State, DCCC, Widner, Neumann, Bloomsberg, Cabrini...

16. We all have Delco pride.

Whether you are from Ridley, Springfield, or Clifton Heights; we all have a bond that no one would truly understand. All of us Delconian's have true pride in our county that we love to call home!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
