"You aren't beautiful enough."
The constant pressure of appealing to society's conforming nature is exceedingly evident in today's culture. Everywhere you look you are told that your size isn't small enough, isn't thin enough, isn't big or curvy enough, isn't this, isn't that... but what you aren't told is that you are enough.
Your looks do not matter because every person in this world is such an amazing piece of art that if we all looked the same, we would be merely just a number. So who cares if the person sitting next to doesn't meet your "expectations?" Every individual is unique in their own ways. Every single one of you. Elizabeth Gilbert reminds us to "Embrace the glorious mess that you are." This couldn't be more true.
You are so beautiful regardless of your "flaws." An anonymous also writes, "We get so worried about being "pretty." Let's be pretty kind. Pretty funny. Pretty smart. Pretty strong." There is artistry in every wrinkle, every fold, every dip, curve, indent, scar, appearance, personality, race, age, gender, religion, sexuality. To be beautiful is to be yourself because your flaws are your warpaint. They tell the people in today's culture that you are brave enough to be yourself in a world where nothing truly exists in a "pure" sense. They tell that you are bigger and better than their undermining comments, and their judgments. Their judgments are just words. But you, you my friend, are words created into a piece of art. Display every inch of yourself to those around you, and continue to work towards fighting those that disagree.
You are a pastiche — "An art work combining materials from various sources." Whether you are young or old, strong or weak, male or female, introverted or extroverted, you are a canvas that paints the world into a better and more extraordinary place. Live your life as if it were a brush, and paint. Freely and openly, paint, and never stop.
