Do you ever look at your life and see nothing but your past mistakes, failures, and regrets? Your day, week, and life seems to be a conglomeration of hardships, trials, and mistakes, mistakes, mistakes. By the end of another week, you are so totally and completely empty - and there is nothing you can do about it.
There is nothing you can do to fix it in that moment and you feel totally and utterly hopeless. I have good news for you. You are not enough, but He is.
You are not enough. You have failed as a friend, sister, daughter, girlfriend, and co-worker. You have been mean, rude, or short-tempered with the people you love most. You have made mistake, after mistake, after mistake. You have wasted minutes, hours, and days of your time on people and activities that don't matter.
You are not enough. You have failed as a parent, wife, teacher, and employee. No matter how much you love or care about someone, you will always let them down. You are unable to keep a clean house, be on time to your commitments, and pay your bills on time. You cannot save the people you love from your shortcomings, and you most certainly cannot save yourself. You cannot protect your loved ones from pain, suffering, and heartache - no matter how badly you want to.
You are not enough. You have disappointed your parents, friends, and even yourself. You have ruined relationships, damaged the hearts of loved ones, and caused conflict. You have hurt people over and over again. You have allowed injustice in your world and done nothing to stop it. You have continued in your sin, been bogged down by negative emotions, and failed to meet God's standards constantly.
But, despite these many shortcomings and mistakes that you (and I) have made, God still loves you. Regardless of how dirty, awful, sinful, and disappointing your life may be, He still wants you. Every day, He is calling out to you and speaking your name, even if you can't hear Him. He seeks to know you, to find you, and to love you - despite your flaws. He will "give you everything that you need for life and Godliness."
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. -1 Peter 1:3
Some days, you just won't be enough. However, He will always be more than enough for you. God is enough. He is. Don't give up, but rather, "run the race marked out for you." The only true failure is to deny Him and quit the race. You are not enough, but He is.
