You Are Loved
Emory Burkhalter

To the One Who is Hurting, Insecure, or Feels Alone:

You are here for a reason, don't ever think you aren't. There is a purpose to your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says: For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope in the future." God has placed you here on this earth for a reason he wrote the story book you are living in. You might not know what to do but he does.

You are beautiful. Know matter what anyone says you are priceless. Like it says in Psalm 139:13-15 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth." I know what you are feeling, its not fun. Being insecure in anyway is horrible and can damage you for the rest of your life. its an emotional rollercoaster that you can't escape from. Luckily, God helps you through every step of the way. He looks past your insecurities and flaws and sees a heart of gold!

You are strong! They say that God doesn't give us more than what we can handle but the truth is He does give us more than we can handle. He wants us to seek him. We can handle anything that comes our way, as long as you allow God to step in and help. He will bring you through whatever situation you are in right now.

You are not alone, there are people who feel the same way as you. There are people who think the same exact thoughts you do. Also there are people going through the exact same situation as you are. Most importantly there are people who love you, just for who you are. Think about it there is at least one person who you can count on to be there for you no matter what happens. If you can't think of one than that's okay because you still have Jesus. whether you knew or not He has been walking with you every step of the way. Which leads to my last point.

You are loved. Don't forget that there is someone who loves you through the times where you can't find your purpose. There is someone who knows what you think about yourself and your insecurities. There is someone who lifts you us in your weak moments. There is someone who is there when you feel alone. Lastly there is someone there when you feel unloved or unaccepted. Jesus loved you so much he died on the cross for you. There is a great part of an amazing song that I highly encourage you to listen to if you haven't done so already. It is called "You Make Me Brave" by Bethel music. The lyrics that are amaze me everytime I hear them are

"As Your love, in wave after wave
Crashes over me, crashes over me
For You are for us
You are not against us
Champion of Heaven
You made a way for all to enter in"

Just think about that, wave after wave. When you go to the ocean the waves never stop, do they? They can be so rough or so soft. That is what Gods love for you is like. The waves might become soft but they never stop. The champion of Heaven loves you, He died for you. Don't ever forget that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
