6 Legit Yoga Routines College Students Can Do In The Comfort Of Their Dorm Room

In This Article:

Exercise is important, but depending on weather conditions and where you're located, it can be difficult to get outside to work out.

Dorm rooms don't offer a lot of space for exercise equipment either, which is why yoga has become so popular among college students. You don't need a lot of space to do most yoga poses, and you can do them in the comfort of your dorm.

If you're short on space, here are some yoga routines that you can do in your dorm room.

1. "Travel Yoga"

You won't always have room to lay out a yoga mat in your dorm room, especially if you've got a messy roommate. You don't need a yoga mat for this routine though.

These poses don't even need to be a full routine. They're perfect if you only have a couple of minutes to stretch before you have to run to class. These can also be great if you're traveling and don't have anywhere that you can safely or politely set up a yoga mat while you're on the move.

2. "30-Minute Workout  for Small Spaces"

If you want a comprehensive workout but don't have a ton of room, this is a great option for you. This workout has warmups, a full body workout and cooldowns to help you fit your entire workout into 30 minutes.

This is ideal if you've got a full schedule between work, school and keeping up with your social life, but still want to stay healthy during your college career.

3. "10-Minute Yoga for Small Spaces and Travel"

If you don't have enough space to lay out a yoga mat and stretch out like you need to in the previous workout, this can be a great option. We all get tensed and stressed when we're traveling or trying to keep up with a heavy class load.

This quick routine can be done in 10 minutes, with very little space, and can help you release some of that tension and stress that you carry in your neck, shoulders and back.

4. "Yoga for Small Spaces — Heart Pumping Sequence"

If you're not into jumping jacks and high knees, getting your heart pumping in a tiny dorm can be a challenge.

This quick nine-pose sequence can get your heart rate up and takes almost no space — if you've got enough room to lay out a yoga mat, you've got enough room to do this yoga routine.

It's not a hard routine, but it requires enough effort to get your blood pumping. It's also easy to customize if you're not as fit as you would like to be.

5. "18-Minute Compact Yoga Flow for Small Spaces"

Practicing yoga doesn't have to take all day. This fantastic little routine can be done anywhere that you have enough room to lay out a yoga mat — as long as the room is at least as tall as you are.

Don't try to do this routine in Harry Potter's cupboard under the stairs! This routine will take you through all the basics of the Sun Salutation to wake up you and help you get energized for the day ahead.

6. "Yoga for Small Spaces"

You might be saying, "Hey, I don't even have enough room on my floor to lay out a yoga mat. How can I do these routines?"

Don't worry, you're in luck! This routine is designed to be done on a bed — no floor or yoga mat needed! There are plenty of other yoga-in-bed routines on YouTube too, if this one doesn't appeal to you.

If you've got a bed, you've got somewhere that you can do yoga!

Small spaces aren't normally conducive to exercise, but these yoga routines do a good job at filling the gap so that you can stay healthy and fit while you're living in a dorm.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
