Whenever I am about to pass through the traffic light, the one thing I am afraid of is the yellow light. As I am driving, I see the green light ahead. I do not know when the yellow light will appear. As I get closer and closer, the light suddenly becomes yellow. Then, I have to decide whether to stop or go forward. I get so confused at that moment. It all depends on how close or far the car is to the traffic light. It also depends on the cars behind me because a sudden stop can make a car behind me hit my car. My mother scolded me for flooring it because it was a dangerous move. She said that our car was very far away from it and cars from the other side could hit our car. This was an important lesson that I learned from her because what I did was very dangerous and wrong. I am relieved whenever the traffic light remains green when I pass through. Sometimes, it becomes yellow and I can stop. The other times I have to pass through.
I wish that the traffic lights have this solution. My mother agrees with me. The traffic light should have a countdown whenever the green light is on. That way, people will know when the yellow light is coming. If the countdown is almost reaching zero, then people can slow down their car without suddenly pressing their brake. If the countdown is far from zero, then people can drive at a steady or fast speed without any fear. This sounds very convenient. One thing for sure is that the yellow light teaches us to have good judgment but safety always comes first. Do you agree with me and experience this problem as well?
