There can be so many misunderstandings when it comes to the genre of Young Adult literature, but there is so much to the genre that people tend to miss. Especially when it comes to a lot of recent cinematic adaptions of YA (Young Adult) books, it truly goes to show how wonderful this genre is.

YA novels have had such an impact on the cinematic medium. Ranging from "The Hunger Games" to "The Fault In Our Stars" or "Ready Player One" to "To All The Boys I've Loved Before," there are so many more that have impacted the cinematic and literature worlds. When it comes to having a book turned into a movie, there will always be some things that get changed or added to be able to fit that medium of cinema, but the core concepts still remain.

When it comes to the books themselves, the stories are what make the whole book. Whether it be a rom-com or a coming of age story, YA books can be so relatable to many different people. There is something so special about being able to escape into the world of a YA book because there are so many different worlds and genres that you can go and explore, without ever leaving your room.

The other wonderful thing about YA books and movie adaptions is just because it is called 'young adult' doesn't mean that it is only for young adults, they can be for everyone. A perfect example of this is the book and movie titled "To All The Boys I've Loved Before." I just watched this movie with my roommate and we absolutely loved it. It brought back so many memories of high school, but also I was so there for that whole storyline.

It was a beautiful adaption of the book and was so relatable on so many levels. Also, I mean who wouldn't want to be with Peter Kavinsky, let's be completely honest here. Being able to see a rom-com like this is so refreshing, especially since this does have the lead as an Asian-American girl. This just goes to show that a YA novel can do anything and have anyone be the main character and that is something really special.

So next time you are at the store or online looking for a new book to read, don't be afraid to go to the YA section and see what they have there. You never know what book might pop out at you or what story you haven't experienced yet. It may seem weird to be in that section, but don't worry about it, take that leap and find a new story and world to go and explore. From India to New York and England to Los Angeles, there are so many worlds you can explore and YA books span all of these different places and will allow you to join the lives and adventures of so many people.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
