As college students we've all got enough to worry about, especially when it comes to the m-word: MONEY. All of us pay for tuition (through scholarships, loans, or out of pocket), not to mention the cost of food, housing, textbooks, a "social" slush fund and other costly expenses that accrue when living on a college campus.
So, I've decided to come up with a list of just a few of the free resources that more students should take advantage of during their time at WSU.

1. Pullman Transit
Learn how to use the Pullman bus system! Honestly, it's saved me a 30 minute walk to class in the snow, and it's free with your CougarCard since you pay for it with tuition! Just make sure to bring it with you each time you hop on because the bus driver will ask! There's always one bus driver who will make it awkwardly uncomfortable and point out to everyone that you either need to pull out that CougarCard or cough up 50 cents. It's pretty much packed with WSU students, so why not try and make a new friend? To make it even easier, there's an app that let's you know where your bus is!
Nice to Know: There are bus routes that bring you all over Pullman! The Express 1 and Express 2 buses come every 7-8 minutes and primarily take you around campus, to the student recreation center, and to apartment land. These are the buses you will utilize the most! Morning buses tend to be packed with everyone trying to get to class, so get to the bus stop early and plan accordingly! Don't bring coffee that's going to spill on your neighbor - lesson learned!

2. Free Fitness Classes at the Rec!
There are a couple of times throughout the school year that the student recreation center (students call it, the Rec) offers free fitness classes! So why not take advantage of the opportunity? Try something new and who knows, maybe you'll end up liking it! The first opportunity is during the Week of Welcome (the week before school starts) and Demo Week (the first week of school). That's TWO consecutive weeks of free classes! There are also opportunities during November, The Pac-12 Fitness Challenge, and Sweat the Stress Week (dead/finals week)! To check out the list of free fitness classes coming up, check out the schedule here!

3. The Academic Enrichment Center (AEC)
The Compton Union Building (CUB), located in the center of campus, is a great place for students to hangout, grab a bite to eat, or study. It's also the meeting place for a lot of student organizations, groups, and school sponsored events! The fourth floor of the CUB is home to Multicultural Student Services and many Multicultural Student Centers - African American, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Chicana/o Latina/o, Native American, and Smart Start Program. The student centers promote cultural diversity and offer great resources for academic success!
Nice to Know: The AEC Center provides free tutoring, academic and professional workshops, and a computer lab! It is a great resource for anyone looking for help academically or for those who just have questions! Any student is welcome to print for free in any of the student centers, however, there is a page limit (try to follow the rules or you may lose your printing privileges). For more information, check out the AEC website here!

4. Language Learning Resource Center (LLRC)
Located in Thompson Hall, Room 210, the LLRC is a great resource for students taking foreign language courses! Foreign language students have access to computers, a 55" HD-TV for foreign movie showings, and free language tutoring (see the website for the full schedule)! The language lab is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit the official webpage here!
5. Events hosted by the Student Entertainment Board
Throughout the year, the lovely members of the Student Entertainment Board (SEB) host events for WSU Students to make college life a little less stressful. There are events for everyone, including concerts, talent shows, poetry slams, art galleries, Up All Nights, dance parties, free movies, and more! The SEB spends a great deal of time planning these events for us, and they're actually really fun! Don't be afraid to check them out! For a full schedule of the Week of Welcome activities, check out this link here! For more information about the Student Entertainment Board, go to their website here!
Nice to Know: Previous SEB concerts have included artists like Hoodie Allen, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Snoop Dogg, Florida Georgia Line, Juicy J, The Chainsmokers, and more! Not all concerts are free, but the tickets run relatively cheap! Up All Nights are free events that run until the wee hours of the morning, and are filled with free food, guest speakers, free movies, and more great activities that vary upon the theme.
