October 27, the rising Muncie EDMC collective will release their second compilation album. Titled "Wrong Number," the album is made up of 16-tracks ranging from house to trap. To celebrate the release of their album; the collective is hosting a release party at Be Here Now. The release party will also include a costume contest with other giveaways.
The collective released a trailer for the event earlier this week, with over a 1,000 views already, it hints at elements of horror. President of Muncie EDMC, Lavonte Pugh, created the event and all its artwork. The story behind it all will remain a mystery until its release this Friday on Bandcamp.
The Muncie EDMC is the collective that you don't want to skip over. Made up of alumni and current Ball State students, they are the only EDM club in Muncie. Due to their DIY roots, the collective does all their own work. From lights and graphics, to marketing and promotion; the EDMC is built of talented and young individuals with a love for music production. Their goal is to bring together not only DJs and producers, but artists of all forms throughout the Muncie scene.
Their line-up for "Wrong Number" includes a fierce mix of new and veteran artists from the Muncie and Indy scene. Fresh to the EDMC roster includes Arium as well as Kados.
In the wake of a huge push to fight back against sexual harassment and assault at parties, the collective aims to create events in a safe environment. They stand behind their claim to host parties in an underground yet professional manner. The collective works closely with security of venues to ensure safety and order.
But that doesn't mean that they don't get like to bring the heat. Lighting technician and DJ, Ventura explains, "We have a custom-programmed light show to complement the 4 subwoofers, including lasers, moving heads, and fog! I’ve spent most of the week programming and making sure this is gonna be a visual spectacular you’ll never forget!”
Not only is there a custom light show but giant crocheted spider web decorations so that guests can take pictures with. The Muncie EDMC is known for having very visual and sensory pleasing elements at their events.
"Wrong Number" is the second event hosted by the Muncie EDMC this semester and is one of many that will take place this school year. With each event, the collective gets a little stronger allowing them to grow.
