More often than not, people get so caught up with all the craziness around the holiday season that they tend to forget what Christmastime is all about. Whether it be finishing up finals, shopping for presents, or watching ABC's 25 Days of Christmas, there's a lot going on throughout the month of December. However while we're obliviously stressing over what sweater to wear for the annual "Ugly Sweater Party," we forget that there are other families out there who are forced to bring Christmas to dingy hospital rooms, praying that their family member will make it to see another Christmas. Everyone forgets to take time to realize how fortunate they are, but this holiday season is a chance to make these realizations and help those who may be less fortunate this year.
One way you can make a difference is by partaking in Macy's "Believe" Campaign. For the eighth year, Macy's and the Make a Wish Foundation have teamed up to help grant the "wishes" of children across the country. For every "Letter to Santa Clause" Macy's receives, one dollar will be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation up to $1,000,000. For those of you not familiar, Make A Wish Foundation provides wishes for children ages 3-17 with life threatening illnesses. Although a large portion of these wishes involve trips to Disney World, they range anywhere from meeting celebrities to even being a superhero for the day. On average in the United States a wish is granted every 37 minutes.
So how can you help?

If you follow this link and scroll down, you will see a part of the website called "Write a Letter to Santa Clause," click Start Writing. From there you can write as much or as little as you would like (you can even add stickers). When you are done, simply press next and it will ask you how you would like Santa to receive your letter. By pressing "Send to North Pole," Macy's will automatically receive the letter and count it as a one dollar donation. If you would like, you can even print out the letter and bring it to your local Macy's store where they will send it to the North Pole for you. On National Believe Day, December 11th, whether you send your letter online or in stores, Macy's will double the one dollar donation.
So next time you catch yourself freaking out over something silly this holiday season, find someone who still believes in Santa, or maybe channel your eight year old self and log onto the Macy's website. You might have everything you wished for under your tree this year, but not everyone will be so lucky.
Write a letter to Santa & help make a wish come true!
