By now, most people familiar with the beauty guru community on YouTube will have heard of the Beauty Blender, an egg-shaped sponge that many people rave about. As I listened to countless makeup lovers go on about the Beauty Blender, I couldn't help but think that there was no possible way that a makeup sponge could be worth dropping $20 on. After all, couldn't I just go to Walgreens and pick up a pack of cosmetic wedges? Or even one of the many $6 Beauty Blender "dupes" out there? I was skeptical of the Beauty Blender, but on one fateful night in Sephora, I decided to purchase one to see if it was worth the hype.
Many makeup lovers either use a sponge like the Beauty Blender or a foundation brush to apply their foundation. I, however, gave up on all of that out of laziness towards cleaning and settled upon using my fingers. That being said, since I got the Beauty Blender, I have decided I will never go back. Applying foundation with the Beauty Blender is quick and easy, and always results in a truly flawless finish. I simply dot foundation around my face, wet and ring out my Beauty Blender so that it's damp and begin to lightly pat in the foundation to blend it. The Beauty Blender has even worked beautifully with my nose, which never seems to let foundation stick to it. The Beauty Blender also flawlessly blends out concealer and prevents it from looking like a dot of white on your face or a triangle of white underneath your eyes.
If you are a beginner with makeup, I would absolutely recommend the Beauty Blender. Your foundation and concealer will look as if a pro did it, which is one less thing to worry about while you're learning. As for the price tag, I can assure you that it's worth it. I have tried other "dupes" for the Beauty Blender and none of them are as soft and bouncy, and therefore none of them result in the same flawless finish. The only one that comes close is the Miracle Complexion Sponge from Real Techniques, which is $6.99 at Ulta, so if you're not quite sure you're ready to commit to a $20 piece of foam, I would recommend trying that one out first.
