5 Pieces Of Advice For Packing When You Travel

Worst Part About Traveling: Packing

One of the worst things about traveling is packing. You never know what to bring, how much of the items to bring and if you actually need everything that you want to pack. It’s a common stress for everyone, but hopefully these five tips will help decrease the stress and worry of packing.

1. Don’t Pack Too Much.

I know this is a really hard concept for a lot of people, but everyone has a tendency of over-packing. My dad always told me pack a bag that you can carry for three miles. I always thought he was exaggerating when he said that until I actually had to carry my 70lb suitcase all the way across Milan. Let me tell you, it was awful. Plus, I had two carry-ons that both weighed way too much. I definitely learned my lesson and I have figured out how to pack lightly, and realize that I don’t need everything that I’m packing.

2. Use Packing Cubes.

Packing Cubes are amazing! I know some people like to roll their clothes or tightly fold them in a suitcase, but I’ve come to realize that packing cubes are a huge help. They squish down your clothes, and makes room for other items. Plus, packing cubes are really cheap and they last a long time.

3. Pre-Plan Outfits.

Pre-planning your outfits help tremendously when packing. First off, if you pre-plan your outfits you won’t over pack as much. Also, if you pre-plan your outfits you know they will look good when the time comes for you to wear the outfit. Another little tip is to check and double check the weather when you travel. This will help with the “planning of the outfits” when you get to your location.

4. The Extender On The Suitcase Should Not Be Used At The Beginning Of The Trip.

Most suitcases have an extender zipper that allows the suitcase to get bigger. Don’t use the extender when you are traveling to a location, only use it when you are returning to your home destination. This allows you to buy some stuff, or know that you have more room for other items that you want to put in your suitcase.

5. Think Outside Of The Box For Liquids.

Liquids are the main source of weight when you travel. My advice is to minimize everything if you can. Buy the travel size shampoos, conditions, toothpaste, etc. Those items really help. For women, instead of bringing your entire makeup bag I would put as much liquids (foundation, cover-up, etc.) into little bottles. It’s amazing how much room your makeup bag can take up. Minimize the items in your makeup to reduce the space. You don’t need to bring seven different eye-shadow pallets with you, just bring your favorite one that always looks good. Another little piece of advice for men and women is to always have cleaning wipes. These wipes will help you wipe away smells after a period of time where you can’t shower, and they also work as makeup remover. Sometimes when you travel you don’t have time or a location to shower, so these wipes will help with everything until you have time to clean your body.

I have traveled to many places so far in my life, and I have learned a lot about packing. I used to be the person who would stress and freak out because packing overwhelmed me, but now that I’ve experienced situations I know how to pack and not have to stress anymore.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
