When one dives head first into the world of makeup, they quickly realize that makeup is not just makeup. It is that alter ego you created when you were singing into your hairbrush when you were twelve, makeup is that dark-side that you thought you never had, and makeup has the power of making you feel red carpet ready when your front face camera is the only one who will see you, not the paparazzi... which is pretty much the same thing. Makeup is also something that should be taken advantage of and is a world of excess that has no limit. The beauty scene is meant to be glamorous, its meant to give you that way of being something you thought you never could, and it’s meant to be a safe haven for those skincare, beauty, and brand junkies. Don't be afraid to rock that black lipstick on a Monday or put 3 pans of highlighter all over your face because there is nothing wrong with having a goth moment and it is always a good time to show off that dewy look.
I know I'm not the only one who sets aside those deep burgundy lipsticks for that perfect fall day or those coral-pink blushes for that spring and summer glow but nothing makes me happier than seeing those blushes in the fall or those bold lips in the summer. Makeup has no season, is not subject to weather, events, eras, or time periods. Being super fab has always been in style and always will be. Think about makeup of the 20's and how people are still trying to capture that Party at Gatsby's look or how neon liners and hot lips of the 80's will never ever fade away. There has been this shift in makeup artistry that has caused people to be more comfortable with the idea of seeing others wearing a smokey eye in the middle of the day or wearing pastel lipstick to class or events. 10 or even five years ago people would turn their heads or do a double take when someone would have the audacity to leave their home wearing neon colors or something “not wearable.” Today, this has taken a full 180 and has caused people to have the confidence to walk around however they want without anyone judging. I see so many girls and guys (so jazzed guys are now taking over) today with their friends all wearing different color lipsticks or brightly colored wing liners and my first reaction was “Yaaaaas SLAY” and then I realized how happy I was to see a group of people doing whatever the heck they want with their makeup. The view of makeup used to be that when you use beauty products or skincare products or anything that alters your appearance, you are insecure. However, today people view makeup as an actual art form and can bring out that inner beauty we never knew we had.
The only way to reach the full potential of the makeup world is to know that confidence is key. Once you realize that no one is going to judge you for wearing that new hot pink lipstick that you bought or those excessively long falsies that you have been dying to flaunt, life in this new world you have entered will be much, much easier (and sassier). Whether you want to be a 90’s grunge angsty teen, a super glam insta-star, or a California hippie baby, makeup is not something that won't hold you back but give you so many tools to make you whatever you are feeling that day.
