Just three weeks into the term, usually my mood is bright and excited.
This term I was done with school after the first week. It isn’t because of anything in particular. I love all my teachers and I am thoroughly enjoying all my classes--I am just done.
I tend to not freak out until the last couple of weeks, you know, when every teacher wants all the projects in plus they are planning comprehensive finals--Not so this term. I just finished up my second freak-out session over not having the proper SD card to be able to run my video camera for a project that I am doing in the morning. At least I think it is the SD card. I sat through the class on how to run the thing and it seemed easy. I put the camera on the shelf and didn’t bother messing with it till the night before the project. As I tried to prepare the night before filming, the thing won't record to the SD card at all and I don’t know what the problem is, even after hours scouring the directions online.
The mature woman and college senior in me should have systematically thought through all the issues and deduced the problem and figured out how to fix it. Well that wasn’t me, after a good cry a few texts to a friend explaining to them how much of a complete failure, I am and now the obligatory migraine the camera is no closer to working and I am going to plan B which will get me a lower grade but I guess lower is better that zero.
I hope that you are not experiencing the done with life stress that I am right now but in case you are, I am including some of my favorite encouraging words from one of my favorite authors: Dr. Seuss. I missed out on a lot of his wisdom the first time around with his books but as I read them to my own children, I realized what a treasure he really is. I hope these words encourage you, as you get further into this term and if you are like me and you are at the end of your college career take this encouragement to heart as you prepare to finalize your college career and move onto the working world.
This sounds exactly like what my Pre-Internship teacher told us. She told us to not limit ourselves to the things that are safe. Dream big and go for your dream job.
I have been told to embrace your differences. I am 6'1 and I have been self conscious my entire life but a speech teacher told me to embrace those differences that make you special because they will make you memorable.
Good Luck to everyone. Only 13 more weeks till the end of this term
