A Love Letter to Women

“Women, they have minds, and they have souls, as well as just hearts. And they’ve got ambition, and they’ve got talent, as well as just beauty. I'm so sick of people saying that love is just all a woman is fit for.”— Jo March, Little Women

A Love Letter to Women

This is a response to In Honor Of International Women's History Month, Thank An Amazing Woman In Your Life.

Dear Women,

Throughout our lifetime, we have faced countless obstacles and challenges, yet we continue to push forward with grace, strength, and determination. From fighting for our rights, fighting for our voices to be heard, as well as our place in society, we have shown resilience and tenacity in the face of adversity. We have broken many barriers, shattered glass ceilings, and paved the way for future generations.

But our contributions go far beyond just the battles we have fought. Women have been the backbone of society, nurturing and caring for those around us. We have been the ones to wipe away tears, provide comfort and support, offer a listening ear, and the glue that holds families and communities together.

I am in awe of the women who have come before us, blazing trails and setting the stage for future generations, and equally inspired by the women of today who continue to fight for important moralities like gender equality, reproductive rights, and an end to violence against women.

But our contributions do not stop there. We are mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and mentors. We are the start of our families, our communities, and our businesses. We have a unique perspective, a wealth of knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.

It is because of us that our world is a better place. It is because of us that we have hope for a brighter future. And it is because of us that we will continue to strive for equality, justice, and peace.

As we celebrate Women's History Month, let us not only honor the women who have come before us, but also recognize the incredible strength and potential of women today. We are powerful, we are capable, and we are deserving of all the love and respect in the world.

Because, my dear sisters, you are loved. You are cherished. You are respected. And you are essential to the fabric of our universe.

Here's to you, women, and all that you represent.

With love and gratitude,

A fellow woman.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
