Don't let me tell you that the Agriculture industry is a horrible industry because it's not it's amazing! In the past 20 years, the industry has been making leaps and bounds towards evolving. I've grown up in the Agriculture Field submerged in it and yet I still get asked these questions all the time.

1. “Aren’t you just going to be a housewife?”

We hear this one ALL the time, and trust me it has gotten old and every time we answer "NOPE" we get a whole other set of questions. "Are you sure?" "Do you want kids?" "Are you planning on getting married?" Let me just tell you now, YES I want kids, YES I want to get married but NO I will not give up my career to me a "housewife" because I can be a great mom while having a career that I have worked so hard for.

2. “Are you seriously wearing makeup?”

Yes, Yes I am and false lashes, too! But let's be honest how much or how little makeup I wear does not determine my skill set.

3.  “If you’re not going to be a vet, what are you going to do?”

I'm sorry, is being a veterinarian the only agriculture career possible? I think not, the agriculture field is thriving with all sorts of jobs; agronomists, producers, communication specialists and yes farmers to and so many other careers.

4. “You don’t want to get those pretty hands dirty, do you?”

Oh, but I do. Yes I may have a well-manicured hand but don't you worry about me, because this girl knows how to get her hands dirty.

5. “Aren’t you just going to marry a farmer”

Maybe, but that's not the point. It's not about who I marry it's all about MY career.

Here are just a few examples of what us "ag girls" go through every day, but don't worry we're a lot stronger than we look.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
