Wolfeboro is a unique town that is filled with many hidden treasures and adventures. However, if you live in this town you know some things to be true.

Tourist: Our Worst Nightmare

Tourists clog up the streets and sidewalks of our beloved little town. They take all the seats at our favorite restaurants and you can usually spot them a mile away. You have to be nice to them because if you work at a small business, they do make sure we have a paycheck at the end of each week.

HUCKS HOAGIES

I don't believe this needs an introduction.

Everybody Knows Everybody

This small little town has the scoop on just about everybody. You can't do anything without your dentist's sister hearing about it. You might as well give your journal to the Granite State Newspaper.

Lack of Diversity

The most diveristy Wolfeboro gets is when they get an exchange student at Kingswood or the kids from Brewster Academy roll in at the beginning of the school year. Wolfeboro is a white town, almost whiter than Snow White herself. So when you go south or just about anywhere else, you get a major culture shock.

Small Town Businesses

Wolfeboro doesn't have any chained restaurants in the area (Besides Dunkin Donuts, but we all run on Dunkin's). That doesn't stop this small town from having all types of great food from El Centenario's to Sea Bird's Asian Cuisine. Plus you have 10+ places to choose from for pizza.

"The top of the hill"

This is the intersection where Route 28 meets Main Street right in between Three Sisters Country Store and the Corner Store. You swear you've almost died twice when trying to get onto Main Street because the town refuses to put a traffic light in this town, even if it is to save the life of the civilians. It's almost got a line a mile long during the summer and in the morning on your way to work/school. Good thing you know every back road to avoid it.

Kingswood Vs. Brewster

If you went to high school, you would know that you have the option of potentially choosing from two different schools to attend. There is the public school known as Kingswood Regional High School (AKA Kingsweed. Motto: Where the grades are low, and the students are high) or, the prep school known as Brewster Academy. Either are fine choices to attend. However, if you were a basketball star you went to Brewster and if not... well welcome to Kingswood.

The Turn At Weston Auto Body

YOU DON'T NEED A BLINKER IF YOU'RE CONTINUING ON THE ROAD. Enough said.

Bailey's Bubble

If you're an ice-cream lover, well this is the place to be in town. You refuse to go to any other ice-cream place because Bailey's is just the best all around. There's never a day where the line isn't longer than the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Mt. Washington Boat

The boat you can usually hear before you see. This boat is parked at the Wolfeboro Town Docks and is an iconic piece of what makes Wolfeboro what it is. You've had many field trips on this boat and most likely had your prom on it.

Seasons

Wolfeboro is all around beautiful. It has a unique look during every season. The summers are filled with blue skies and green grass. Autumn comes and the trees have never looked so gorgeous. Winter is a treat as you look over the iced over lake as the snow falls down upon you and Spring is even better because you know summer is right around the corner.

Celebrities

There isn't a summer that goes by that there isn't a celebrity spotting. Big stars like Adam Sandler, Mitt Romney and, Jimmy Fallon love our little town as much as we do. In fact, either you or a friend have probably served one of them at one point.

Hiking

You've probably climbed Mt Major or Bald Knob at least four times, heck you probably climbed them at night for a real challenge. They may not be exactly in the town of Wolfeboro but, they're close enough nearby.

You Wouldn't Want To Live Anywhere Else

Even after all the endless amounts of times, you screamed at tourists from inside your car as they crossed the crosswalks and rear-ended your car. You love this small little town and, you wouldn't dream of living anywhere else.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
