It's the middle of your college winter break. The holidays are finally over and you still can't remember what day of the week it is. You realize that you haven't woken up earlier than 10am since you were at school. All of that, is perfectly ok. Winter break is meant to be the laziest break you've ever had.
Winter break is all about relaxing. First of all, you are far away from college. If not physically, at least mentally. This is a time to clear your mind completely from anything school related. There is no deadline or test to study for that is holding you back from enjoying your day. You don't need to rush home from spending time with your friends just to finish a paper.
During winter break you get to see you're old friends and catch each other up with how you've grown and changed since you've last seen each other, and you can reminisce on the old memories you share. Sometimes your friends at home are the only ones you can still act like a kid with, because they were there when you were a kid. You're not away from your new friends at school for too long either. You don't lose touch with them like you can sometimes do over the summer. Everyone is kept up to date with just a couple weeks in between.
Sleeping until noon is perfectly acceptable, but maybe not on Christmas. You don't have to worry about setting an alarm for working and wasting your day away at your summer job that you were stuck at when it was a beautiful day.
You can stay in bed all day because it's the only way to stay warm. This calls for a Netflix binge. There isn't much going on outside that you would be missing out on. Finish six seasons of your favorite T.V. show because what else would you be doing?
One of the best parts about winter break is Christmas. Yes, the gifts are awesome and everything else that comes with Christmas is great too. But no matter when you're home, you're sometimes forced to visit your extended family. During Christmas time, you get to see the whole family all at once. You only have to answer those nagging questions for one day.
So stay in your sweats, make some snacks, and enjoy the rest of your winter break. Because before you know it, you'll be dozing off in class wishing you were back in your bed at home.
