Stop The Stress And Enjoy A Break

The semester has come, stayed long enough and now it is gone. A little less than a month of the sweet bliss of being at home for the holidays. No more stressing about school or tests, having to navigate around CofC to find where your teacher has moved the class that day, just pure relaxation for a little bit.

No school for a month gives everyone the chance to get a mental checkup before going back to stress again. Some ways to get your mind off of school and on track to no school is taking a day for yourself, lay in bed with a box of food and watch movies from the time you wake up until you go to bed.

Maybe that doesn't sound too pleasing to you, so instead you go SHOPPING. Shopping for some new winter clothes or gifts that you are going to buy yourself to open on Christmas morning.

Maybe even just window shopping is something you enjoy very much and just the fact you're out in public without a bookbag on helps you. You could possibly need to do some Christmas shopping for your friends and family, here is another great opportunity and chance to do so. If you don't have some sort of cute wrapping paper, that as well could be another adventure.

You also get to eat whenever you want and you can't really "forget" to eat now. I mean, if you're at home and there is always food, how will you forget?

School is the reason you forget to eat because you put school before anything else on this planet. This could be a great time to try a new recipe you have been dying to try all semester, eat healthy before you go back in January and eat poorly again.

Maybe you eat opposite and eat healthy at school and poor at home. Whatever your choice may be, remember there is also Christmas dinner to pig out on.

Maybe your break involves traveling and trying new foods and experiencing new adventures along the way. Or taking day trips to a place you haven't visited in a while or have never been to. Take some pictures as you go and collect postcards for during the spring semester you can reminisce about how much fun you had while on break.

That way as spring semester ends, you'll start to look forward to the summer time!

Now that you're back home with all your friends that went to a different school, use this to catch up with them. Go to a small restaurant you have dying to try, or maybe get some ice cream if the weather permits. Try a new destination location for a friends day and just have some fun!! You deserve it after a semester of stress and allnighters. Catch up on some sleep to of course! Maybe start sleeping more to get ahead for next semester.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
