"There was a time, a time before cable, when the local anchorman reigned supreme, when people believed everything they heard on TV. This was an age when only men were allowed to read the news. And in San Diego, one anchorman was more man than the rest. His name was Ron Burgundy. He was like a God walking amongst mere mortals.” Or, as I like to call him, Will Ferrell.
I suppose I will categorize this article as an opinion piece, because I think Will Ferrell is the best comedian of all time. No one makes me laugh harder than he does. You can’t not burst out laughing when he plays Brennan in Step Brothers and says, “You can call me nighthawk.” Everything he says is pure comedic gold.
So, this week, because I feel that everyone is missing out if they haven’t seen everything Ferrell has been in, I am supplying a list of Will Ferrell movies to watch for the
rest of the summer. Consider it like a summer reading list but, instead, you can
binge eat junk food and then spit it all out, because you will literally be
laughing out loud that hard.
The Lego Movie: Will Ferrell plays the evil genius of the film, and is incorporated in an unexpected twist towards the end!
Anchorman: The Legend
of Ron Burgundy. Will Ferrell plays a very cocky news reporter and enjoys life with an unforgettable news team (Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd).
Anchorman 2: The
Legend Continues. Again, Will plays Ron Burgundy with a whole new story line placed in New York, not San Diego.
Step Brothers. Will plays a 40 year-old son who still lives at home and has to deal with a new stepbrother, the same age, who is moving into the house.
Blades of Glory: Will plays a sex crazed figure skater.
Talladega Nights: The
Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Will plays a race car driver who crashes, and needs to learn how to get back behind the wheel.
The Producers:This is a musical! He plays a Nazi who helps write a horrible musical for the producers.
Elf: As a baby, Buddy is taken to the North Pole, and when he grows up, he (Will) goes to find his father in New York.
Old School: Now married, Will gets reacquainted with college life when his friend buys a house basically on a college campus.
Zoolander: Ferrell plays Mugatu, an evil mastermind who wants to continue child labor in Malaysia.
Wedding Crashers: He plays Chazz. WIll is absolutely great in this movie -- only for a short amount of time, though.
The Office: Will is
on the show for a few episodes of season seven. He plays the new manager, named Deangelo Vickers. Regular viewers of The Office were tricked, for a little while, into thinking that he would permanently replace Michael Scott.
Lastly, early Saturday
Night Live shows.
This list is prime. Obviously, Will Ferrell has a lot of awesome movies that are not on this
list, but I have narrowed this list to a top 15. Be sure to
watch these this summer!!
