When we were little many of us had dreams of becoming a famous singer, or a major league baseball player, or maybe America’s next top model. But as we grew older and our dreams became “reality,” we saw those high hopes slowly slipping from our grasps. We decided that the “responsible” thing was to become a lawyer, or a doctor. Because that was where we would make the most money, right? That would be a lost easier than the struggle that may follow us as we try and chase our dreams, doing anything we can to fight for them. When did we begin to think that it was the right thing to do to let go of the things we used to want so badly, just because the thought of struggle was too unbearable? Isn’t struggle in life what makes our accomplishments so beautiful?
No matter how young you were, there was a reason you dreamed of becoming something great. Maybe mediocracy sounds good to some people, but never let go of the things you truly want to fulfill in life just because someone tells you you aren’t good enough, or your goals are out of reach. Anything is possible if you fight for it, and give it your all. No great person in our history textbooks accomplished anything from sitting at a desk all day, settling for a job that bores them to tears.
Maybe if we took a step back and channeled our inner 9-year-old ballerinas, we would be able to avoid the monotonous paths that we have fallen into. No dream is too big, no goal is too large. Never let go of the things you truly want to accomplish in your lifetime, because before you know it one day it may be too late, and you will always question “What if”?
