I'm not ashamed to say it: I love Disney and everything about it. I believe that, if you let it, the magic of Disney will stay with you forever, no matter how old you get. When Walt Disney first drew that little mouse he named Mickey, he probably had no idea that he was creating an everlasting empire for both young and old.
I first went to Disney World when I was 2 years old. I don't remember much of it, but my parents always tell me things about it. That year, 1997, was the park's 25th Anniversary and Cinderella's castle was made to look like a birthday cake. I have pictures of this, but I wish I could remember what it felt like to go to Disney World for the first time and see the castle in all it's bubblegum pink glory.
I've only been to Disney World two other times since then, but I am always wanting to go back. Every summer, spring, and winter break I ask my parents to take us back and lately, I've even been asking my boyfriend if we can have our honeymoon there someday. I desperately want to go back to "The Happiest Place on Earth" and be surrounded with the joy and love that Disney brings.
I always say that I will never grow too old for Disney World, and I am a firm believer in this. Disney truly is such a happy place and the magic of it is still amazing, no matter how old you are. This magic may come in different forms for different people, but whatever that may be, it continues to stay alive.
Whatever your age, Disney magic can be found is all sorts of things throughout the park. You can find it in the princesses and other characters walking around (it's always so fun to get their autographs!), the awesome rides, amazing shows, and other various activities that you can only get at Disney World.
Everything about Disney is great, but one of the best things is the food. Disney vacations are usually the time when parents let their children eat whatever they want for an entire week. This time of indulgence brings excitement to the children, and it makes the adults feel like kids again. Whether you are 5 or 55, you know that you can't beat those Mickey ice cream bars or that famous Disney popcorn.
And of course we can't forget the magic of the Mickey ears. I still remember how exciting it was getting to pick out my own pair of Mickey ears. There's no feeling quite like putting on a pair of Mickey ears, whether its the first time or the hundredth time. The joy those ears bring is the same for both the kids and the kids at heart.
There's no denying it: Disney brings magic and happiness into the lives of it's visitors. It brings families together and releases the inner child in every adult. The joyous atmosphere is contagious and you cannot help but feel that your heart is full when you see Cinderella's castle welcoming you into the park.
Disney is for everyone, young and old. The magic you felt at 6 years old is the same magic you will feel at 60 years old. If you don't believe me, then I guess it's time for you to find out for yourself. Plan a trip to Disney World, take a Disney cruise, get married in Cinderella's castle, honeymoon in the Magic Kingdom; whatever you do, and whatever your age, just make sure to embrace that Disney magic.
It's like Walt said, "Adults are only kids grown up, anyway."
