Why You Shouldn't Support Gun Control

I just want to start off by saying that I am tired of reading posts from people who are anti-gun, who, frankly, know nothing about them. These people want guns to be banned because of shootings and the accidents that happen when improperly handling a gun. More often that not, I read post after post of people wanting guns to be banned because criminals use them. This may come as a shock to some of you, but criminals have no regard for the law already. Banning guns is not going to make shooters say, "Oh, guess I'll have to commit a crime in another way. Here's my gun." It doesn't work that way.

The tragedies in Chattanooga, Sandy Hook, Aurora, and all the other shootings break my heart. It truly makes me sad that innocent people lost their lives because of someone wasn't responsible enough to have a gun. But I know that taking the guns away is not the answer. Promoting gun safety, strengthening security, and enforcing punishment are better ways to combat this.

The second amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America gives all US citizens the right to bear arms. Do you have to? No, but you have the right to. If you don't want to, then don't. However, don't try to interfere with what another citizen wants to do, because they are entitled to it.

In 2013, there were an estimated 270 to 310 million guns in circulation in the United States. If any anti-gun supporter thinks that they can take away this many firearms from United States citizens and infringe upon their rights, then I would just assume they don't have any common sense.

In 1966, the first modern school shooting happened in Austin, Texas. A shooter snuck into a tower and was basically sniping down students on campus. What did the onlookers do? They went to their cars and got their rifles and started shooting at him! This distracted him long enough for a policeman to reach him. If these good people didn't have their guns, the shooter would have killed more people than he did. So, a big thank you to our average hunters and gun owners!

There are so many stories of shooters about to start a rampage, killing a few people in a public place and working on killing more. However, these shooters were stopped by good men and women who were ready to defend themselves and those around them, with their guns. The news doesn't like to cover these stories, but do your research and you'll find them.

Remember, guns don't kill people. There are enough guns in my house for everyone on my street to have one if they wanted, but can you believe it? They haven't killed any of us yet. Maybe my guns don't work right, maybe they're lazy, or maybe they just don't kill people. So, forget gun control. Control the people using them and I think we'll be alright.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
