Why You Should Travel The World

I have had the pleasure of traveling to many places. From Florida to Italy, there is a whole world of opportunities waiting for everyone. I know you might be busy, but it's something everyone should experience at least once in their life. You can choose to spend a year or a few months traveling this beautiful planet and seeing what is out there. It’s really up to you to make the dream come true and take the first step.

Here's why you should travel the world:

1. It's an eye-opener.

Traveling will simply make you a well-rounded person because of all the new challenges and opportunities you will face. Traveling helps you discover who you really are, and helps you adopt skills and new languages that you've always dreamed of learning.

2. It gives you adventure.

Traveling is something that will always live in your memory. After zip lining over the jungle canopy in Peru, visiting Cinderella's castle, climbing the Eiffel Tower or even taking a safari ride in Africa, you get a feel for what being an active human being is like (again). The need for adventure is hardwired-- travel lets you tap into it.

3. It gives you a new perspective.

Along the way, you will meet new people of various cultures that will teach you lessons on their cultures rather than what the media shows you.

4. To do something new.

If you're like me, you don't like staying in one place for too long. Traveling gives you the opportunity to get out of your small hometown and see what life has to offer you.

5. For the food.

Probably my favorite reason to travel...the exotic food. Everyone should experience pizza from Italy, or feta cheese from Greece, or even a juicy hamburger from NYC.

6. To prove to yourself that you can.

If you’re the kind of person to dream big, you’re probably also the kind to reach for new challenges. Finishing a trip gives you the satisfaction that you were able to accomplish what you set out to do. And to give you energy to set up the next challenge too.

7. To establish relationships.

How many people get to say they traveled the world with their closest friends? Being in a different country brings you closer than ever before, and you discover not only yourself but your friends as well.

8. Because it's fun.

The time I spend traveling has been the best time of my life, and I can't wait to make new memories, so I suggest you do too.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
