Traveling is one of the most rewarding and eye opening experiences there are. I am about to finally set off on my quest to see Europe and absorb the culture, hear the languages, and participate in the events.
Getting to experience a different culture is priceless. We all assume stuff about different cultures but we don’t actually know if what we assume is true or not because we haven’t experienced it firsthand. Traveling is the most hands on cultural learning you can get.
Even those who speak the same language as you in a different culture, use it differently. And that is what makes language so beautiful. You can hear different languages in your home, but being in the actual place where the language is spoken and to actually hear it there, is mesmerizing.
All the sights abroad are breathtaking. The Eiffel tower looks different in pictures than it does in person, just like the Statue of Liberty does! Everywhere has some kind of sight that is worth seeing. The London Eye, The cliffs of Moher, and The Colosseum are just a few to name.
The Entertainment is unique too. Sure in the United States you can see different cultural shows, but it isn’t the same as actually being where it originated and seeing it in person.
Similar to the entertainment is the food, you can get Chinese food or Italian food in the United States but it is way better abroad. We have Americanized the foods we took from different cultures. I love the pasta we have here! But I bet it is even better and more homemade in Italy.
And finally, the experience is one you’ll talk about for the remainder of your life. It is what you will bring up in an interview to help you get the job. It is what you will talk about with the family at holidays. It is what you will tell your children and grandchildren.
Traveling is something that enhances your personality, broadens you intelligence, and expands your horizons. So think about going abroad next time you are planning a trip. Hear a different countries music, eat their foods, talk to the people, hear the language, and experience things you can’t in the United States. Go travel and embark on the best journey of your life.
