We all have that one friend that means the world to us. She’s the person that's seen you at your worst and she’s seen you at your best, and she’s probably the reason why you look that good. I mean, she’s basically your hair stylist and makeup artist for your most important events. She’s seen your ugliest cry, your stressful moments, your worst and most obnoxious laugh, and she’s seen you be you. I am so thankful for my best friend because, without her, I don’t know where I would be.
Your best friend knows you're weird and she likes it. Actually, she may be even weirder than you. She never judges you but will be completely honest. If you ask her if your butt looks big in that dress, she’s going to tell you that your butt looks like the size of Mars. She's the one person that has enough dirt on you to ruin your life, but she doesn't. You can totally be yourself around her. She’s always there to answer your 3 a.m. text messages or phone calls about nothing. She knows what you're thinking at all times. She also knows when something is wrong, even if you don’t tell her anything is wrong. And if something is wrong, then she knows how to make it better. Normally this ends in watching the sappiest chick flick you can find and eating ice cream… lots and lots of ice cream.
She encourages you to do your best and she has your best interests in mind. Nothing is weird between the two of you anymore, and there are no boundaries. When you have to rant about something, she sits there and listens to you ramble on for hours. You two share everything. It starts with sharing all of your clothes, and then you know she’s your ultimate best friend when you share your chicken nuggets. And let's be honest, you don’t share chicken nuggets with anyone, so she should feel special.
Oh, and let me tell you, this girl understands the importance of a good selfie. She’ll tell you to adjust the lighting, and if she doesn’t look good, then you take another one, and if you don’t look good, then you take another one. So you have about 200 pictures of the two of you, but only one that you actually like. Your best friend’s family is basically your family. You refer to her mom and dad as just "Mom" and "Dad." You’re basically the adopted sister. She knows everything about you except your Social Security number, and actually, she may even know that. You send each other the weirdest and most bizarre Snapchats. If anyone else saw them, they'd probably never talk to you again.
So, to my best friend, thank you. Thank you for being my best friend, my personal stylist, my therapist, my “mom” and looking out for me, my sister, my comedic relief, partner-in-crime, and whatever else I need you to be. Maybe you can even say that this best friend is just simply your person. To my person, I love you to the moon and back and more than all the stars in the sky!
