Needless to say, life is an adventure. We have our ups, our downs and everything in between. The sense of excitement that often accompanies all of our greatest adventures is something that I hope will never fade. As humans, we're curious. Maybe not all of us like to try new things, but I strongly encourage you to at least try.
Adventures are nothing but wonderful. Whether it's hiking to witness a beautiful sunset, going for a drive or trying a new food, you never really know where life can take you with even the smallest things.
We have an innate desire to explore the world around us and to delve into things unknown. We strive to make endless discoveries about the things that we love the most. We crave happiness and invincibility. We want to be remembered. We need adventure.
When we think of adventures, we too often think of traveling or jumping out of an airplane. And as much as we love to travel, it's not exactly something that we college students are regularly capable of. We need to forget about traveling to Peru to go on an adventure because there are so many more ways to experience the beauty of life.
With summer coming up, there are plenty of opportunities for adventure. Not to mention, outdoor activities can prevent and even treat a wide variety of health issues. Doctors are now even handing out "park prescriptions" to individuals who need a little fresh air and some good ol' vitamin C.
The great thing about adventure is that there's no age limit. Carl and Russell traveled far and wide to fulfill childhood wishes without realizing that it would be one of the greatest adventures Carl experienced.
Going on adventures also encourages reflection and confidence. Reminiscing on our past experiences, learning from our mistakes and creating a sense of self are all fostered by the modern-day need for a healthy adventure.
So put aside your passport because you don't need it. Go to that new restaurant that just opened right down the street from you. Take your dog for a stroll around the park. Get in your car, turn up the music and just drive. Grab a friend and watch the clouds. The possibilities, really, are endless.
You may not realize it now, but I guarantee that someday you'll look back and regret all of the chances that you didn't take. People who live uncomfortably tend to lead extraordinary lives, so let life lead you wherever it may.
Here's to all of your adventures, wherever you may find them. I assure you, they're out there.
