With a new semester starting, it is the perfect time to find a TV show, or for the more talented, TV shows to watch. Now, if you are an experienced college student, you’ve likely run through the majority of good series available on Netflix. This leaves you watching some second tier and less desirable shows. If you are looking for a plethora of new shows, in addition to high quality movies, look no further than HBO Go. If you or your parents get HBO through your cable provider, then all you need to do is log in with that account. If you know anyone with HBO or who uses HBO Go, just ask them for their account information because there is not a limit on the amount of sign ins. Finally, if you cannot find a login anywhere, you can pay $14.99 per month for access through HBO Now. This may seem a bit pricy compared to alternatives, but you could split it with other people because of the unlimited logins. Either way, because of the content it offers, HBO access is a must if you are trying to have a great semester.
The first thing you’ll notice when watching an HBO show is that they can use whatever language they desire and show just about anything. In my opinion, this makes all of their shows just that much better. There are many series offered by HBO, including current and finished shows. If you don’t watch Game of Thrones, this is a good opportunity to start that, and there is a good chance you will really like the show. Other highlights include Ballers, Boardwalk Empire, Eastbound and Down, Entourage, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, The Night Of, Silicon Valley, The Sopranos, Vice Principals, and The Wire. Those are just the shows that appeal to me, but you’ll have to check out their extensive list for yourself.
To me, HBO Go is worth the asking price just because of their TV series. But, as an added value, there are a lot of really good movies offered by the service that often aren’t found on Netflix. Movies are an important aspect of any respectable TV watchers life for a couple of reasons. For one, you aren’t always in the mood to watch another episode of whatever show it is you are watching at the time. Also, movies act as very good buffers between TV shows, and will buy you some time to figure out what you’re going to watch next. Lastly, movies are better for when you’re with a group, as it’s very unlikely everyone is watching the same series. A quick survey of the HBO Go movie library reveals titles such as 101 Dalmatians, 300, American Gangster, Dumb and Dumber, Hardball, The Martian, and Straight Outta Compton. No matter what it is you like, there is surely something for you on HBO Go, which makes it a no-brainer.
