A red-headed step child, a botox-filled king, and a salt consuming clown. Which one offers the best burgers and fries? This summer it was put to the test which one is superior in presentation, taste, quality, and cost. At each joint we acquired a large drink, large fries, and a cheeseburger.
To begin, McDonalds:
A McDonalds cheeseburger contains one patty, one slice of american cheese, ketchup, pickles, onions, and mustard, all between a sesame seed bun rounding out to a solid 300 calories (and 680 mg of salt). This description, (as provided by the McDonald's app) promises "A juicy," okay pause. This patty is everything short of juicy. More like it was made two hours ago and maybe dropped on the ground at some point. "100% pure beef patty with absolutely no fillers, additives, or preservatives, seasoned with a pinch of salt," do not even get me started, specially on salt "and pepper, and topped with a tangy pickle, chopped onions, ketchup, mustard, and a slice of melty American cheese," definitely not melty. As someone who doesn’t add salt to things, the saltiness of McDonalds is not something I really like. And I’m not just talking the french fries. Those should be salty and are, but the rest of the stuff has waaay too much salt personally. And the fries are super greasy most of the time, but that won’t stop me from eating those.
On to the next one, Wendy’s:
Wendy’s was much like McDonalds with their burger. This sandwich is built with one burger, two slices of american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, and mayonnaise coming to a total of 570 calories. This means Wendy’s has an added slice of cheese, tomatoes, and mayonnaise in comparison to McDonald’s burger. Wendy’s is definitely one of my favorite burger places because of the taste of their burgers, however, if you aren’t into grease, then you won’t like it. I just ignore it and let that nasty run down my hands so it’s not in my burger (gross I know), but I don’t prefer it so that was a con for me. The fries are long and right between being crispy and soft, so I really can’t complain, AND you get so many in a large. The drink is huge too! Way more liquid then I would need in one sitting.
Finally, Burger King:
The one true love of mine. Burger King will always be number one for me, but bias aside, here’s how it fared. One burger, slice of cheese, pickles, ketchup, and mustard for a grand ol’ 270 calories. That’s a new feature! The other burgers do not have mustard on them and for this girl, that’s fine because mustard isn’t really my thing. But it wasn’t so much that it was gross. The burger was not greasy at all, and it was actually bigger than the bun. And, it tasted like it was cooked on a grill which I think is actually because of some spray that’s not good for us or something, but I’m not researching that. The fries, were soft inside but had a thin crunchy outside. The drink was between the size of a McDonalds cup and Wendy’s cup.
So there you have it.
Voting out of 10 for each category is how we gauged with science experiment. All together Mcdonalds won out on cost; everything is so cheap, but so is the quality. As far as for presentation, Wendy’s took top with an average of 7 out of 10. Burger King dominated on taste with an average of 9.5 out of 10. And finally for quantity Wendy’s also topped with an average of 7 out of 10. Overall this means Wendy’s takes the cake.
When I did this, I brought along the company of my boyfriend and his best friend. The best friend was bias toward McDonalds, and my boyfriend and I were bias toward Burger King. And putting all bias aside, that’s exactly how the results came down for each of our personal average point totals.
So thank you Wendy’s for being awesome but we’re going to enjoy our King and he can enjoy his grease burgers from McDonalds.
**Even though I’m telling you how this went for us, please continue to enjoy your favorite of the three. This was just based on our personal feelings and scores.
