Trump has been tweeting prolifically as of late, more often than usual. Specifically, he tweeted 40 times on day 30 of the government shutdown alone.
How are these tweets connected to the bigger picture in the American political scheme? In more ways than you think.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court upheld the President's ban on transgender people serving in the military. Meanwhile, the nation and the world were distracted with his constant, off the rail tweets and constant debate from Congress over the wall.
The truth of the matter is that the tweets, the wall, and the shutdown are all serving the same purpose. They are a distraction. While everyone has been focusing on the shutdown and debating over the wall, bans that are straight up discrimination have been enacted and upheld by the Supreme Court.
While the media and the people of our country have been focusing on the wall (perhaps, rightfully so) they have been diverted from the true issues that are going on behind the curtain. It is a distraction. The Trump administration is smart enough to know that the Democrats will not stand when it comes to the wall, given its racial bias. It is a distraction meant to take attention away from the discriminatory policies that he is passing.
