Why TJ Maxx and Marshalls are the best places to shop:
If you haven't already hopped on the Tj Maxx/Marshalls party bus, you really should.
- Most stores receive multiple shipments a week. While other chains only receive new merchandise on one day of the week, some stores in the Tj Maxx and Marshalls family get new merchandise every day.
- You never know what you’re going to find. Apparently, not even the store managers know what’s arriving until the delivery truck doors are open.
- No coupons, no sales, no promotions. Although it kind of sucks that things don’t go on sale, I know that I’m getting the best possible price all the time, not inflated prices half the time before a big sale.
- Seasonal clear-outs mean big savings. From my perspective, Marshalls seems like the last stop for clothes. Every January and July stores have to get rid of old inventory, meaning markdowns!
- Merchandise doesn’t have to be faulty to end up at Marshalls. Only 5% of their products are irregular. Even the 5% of faulty clothing might be something you’re interested in. Irregular just means that it doesn’t match the rest of the stock. Things like using the wrong dye or the wrong stitching could mean discount for you.
- Most merchandise is current season. Most clothing in Marshalls this fall is from this fall. If items are from the previous season, it likely was a negotiated end of season closeout deal. Still- trendy.
- Their prices must be negotiated to 20-60% less than department store prices. This is 1 of 4 of Marshall’s qualifications. This doesn’t mean that you can’t find a product for cheaper in other places, but you’re always guaranteed a lower price than a department store.
- Trendy male clothing, in one place. Not sure about you ladies, but I don’t particularly follow men’s fashion. Clothing is my go-to male gift and I love not having to wander through multiple foreign male clothing stores, trying to find something cute.
- Shop using the tags. Yellow price tags mean that it’s the lowest price the product will ever go, while other colors mean it could still go lower. Purple price tags mean those items were featured during the most recent Fashion Week.
- Rule of thumb: if it’s at Marshall’s or Tj Maxx, it’s cute.
- You can sign up for “what’s in” alerts. Marshall’s will literally text you when they have your favorite brands arrive.
- Got a gift card and didn’t find anything you like? Marshall’s gift cards can also be used at Tj Maxx and Home Goods. Yay!
