A story of "leading with love" should be heard now more than ever.
After seeing The Greatest Showman on New Year’s Day, my heart has never been more full. The story of P.T. Barnum and his creation, although made hundreds of years ago, is more relevant to today’s world more than ever. The story of Barnum’s circus teaches those to accept and celebrate what makes us different. Not only is every actor incredibly and immensely talented, but they embody their characters and tell the story with pure genuine love.
The acting, vocals, and choreography of The Greatest Showman is not something to go unnoticed. It is perhaps the most impressive musical movie I’ve seen in so long. With the incredible Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, audience members fall in love with his humor and sincerity as well as his determination and perseverance; traits that humanity could use more of. Not to mention my childhood, adolescent, and adult crush Zac Efron making my heart throb with his romance with the amazing Zendaya. Adding to this phenomenal team is Kaela Settle with her empowering voice that brings the house down.
The anthem of the movie, the song "This is Me" (sung by Settle) will bring a smile to anyone’s face and perhaps even tears, for humanity needs to remember that what makes us different makes us powerful, and that should not be hidden.
I predict I will be hooked onto this movie and the songs and the dancing and the actors for years to come, for the message of acceptance, family, friends, and celebration of life and love that comes out of this movie is one that made me sob for two hours straight. Everyone should go see this masterpiece, and remember what humanity is all about.
