Now before some people freak out, I didn't "switch" houses, but rather, I was sorted into a different house. Long story short, I forgot my password to Pottermore and since I never use that old email, I decided to create a new account and go through the process all over again.
When I first created an account nearly three years ago, I was sorted into Gryffindor and I was so excited! That was the house! My favorite character (Hermione Granger of course) was in that house! Needless to say, I was ecstatic to be bearing the red banner.
So when I logged into my new account this past week, I was eager to get sorted into my Hogwarts house again. I didn't think anything of it, answering the question how I saw fit, thinking I'd be sorted right back into Gryffindor.... only I wasn't.
***cue the panic***
I was sorted into Hufflepuff!!!!!!!
WHAT?
HOW THE HECK DID I GO FROM GRYFFINDOR TO HUFFLEPUFF???
I almost contacted J.K. Rowling on every form of social media to protest and demand a redo! I felt like I had been kicked out of my house!
But then it struck me: if I got sorted again in three years, I probably would be in a different house. Then again and again and again. It's already been discussed how the Golden Trio all represented the other houses. Harry was Slytherin, Ron was Hufflepuff, and Hermione was Ravenclaw. And I had always wondered how it would be if that's how they were sorted in the books.
Me getting sorted into Hufflepuff matters because it represents the different stages of my life. I feel safe in saying, J.K. Rowling created the four houses in such a way that everyone could easily fit in all four houses. You can be loyal, brave, smart and ambitious. There will be times in your life where one quality outweighs the others, hence me getting sorted differently than three years ago. That's a beautiful thing about the houses, they all belong together.
So, maybe in another three or four years, I'll purposely create a fake email account and try again. Who knows what the results will be? The Sorting Hat is never wrong.
