Summer is the one thing that every student and warm-weather lover looks forward to. A break from school or the cold is welcomed by just about anyone. Except me, that is. I hate summer and I count down the days until I know the leaves will start to change color and the temperature drops below 60 degrees. Don't get me wrong, I love a good bonfire or dip in the pool. But June, July, and August are my most dreaded months. I know that some of you are with me on all of the reasons why I hate summer.
1. Sweat
It is EVERYWHERE; pit stains, boob sweat,
butt sweat, leg sweat. I'm pretty sure that feet and knees start to sweat when the temperature goes above 85. You know it's bad when you step outside at eight in the morning, get wrapped up in that sticky and humid air, and immediately start sweating. It's disgusting and you never feel clean, no matter how much deodorant you put on every morning.
2. Mosquitoes
Most bugs are okay and they just go about their business, keeping the environment in check. If there is one thing that I hate more than sweating all day, everyday, it is mosquitoes. The incessant buzzing and huge bites are definitely things I could do without. The sticky bug spray alone is
enough to keep me inside.
3. Sticky Seats
The feeling of your legs sticking to a chair or booth as you try to stand up or scoot over is enough to make me want to go all summer without wearing shorts. Add sweat to the equation and you're slip-and-sliding all over the place.
4. Sunburns
There's nothing like lathering yourself in layers of aloe vera while trying to cool the painful burn of blistering skin. Everyone wants to be tan and soak up that summer sun, but sometimes it's just too much. Make sure you're putting on bottles worth of goopy sunscreen, even though some days it might not be enough. I won't even get started on the peeling.
5. Seat Belts
Metal sitting in the hot sun is enough to brand you if you aren't careful. Handle those seat belts with
care if you don't want a third-degree burn to accompany that sunburn. I hope you don't have leather seats because it will definitely turn into a sauna.
6. Exhaustion
It doesn't matter if I'm running outside or just sitting by a pool, I always seem to be exhausted after a day in the sun. The sun is out later and up earlier and it makes it impossible to ever feel like you get enough
sleep.
7. THE HEAT
It may seem obvious, but the heat is miserable. If it's any hotter than 80 degrees, I feel like I'm melting as fast as the popsicles I've been shoving in my face all day. Everything is always blazing hot and every year, the 90-degree weather comes earlier and earlier. I am dying for a 60 degree day that has a nice breeze and a little sunshine.
