I'm writing this on my way back from a Rangers game. If you care, the Rangers won on a pinch hit walk off from Josh Hamilton. Why am I writing this on the ride home? Simple: it is summer. Summer, the word itself is so relieving. Just think about what you've done every summer since grade school. The first time you kissed Ashley after her pool party. Or the time you had to get six stitches because you're so clumsy you ran into a screw on a volleyball poll. Those may or may not have anything to do with me, but the point is that those memories and moments last forever. The Ranger walk off win will forever be in my mind as an amazing summer memory.
There is a formula to explain why these moments last forever.
Summer + laughter + (spontaneity * adrenaline) - comfort zone = An everlasting summer memory
That formula is just my failed attempt at putting all of the basic building blocks into what makes summer so great.
Laughter
Summer is full of endless laughs in the moment and even more when reminiscing. Inside jokes feed off of the shared giggles by you and your peers. The summertime skies make your summer flings jokes that much more hilarious.
Spontaneity
Spontaneity is the spokesperson for summer. So what, you almost went to jail because you wanted to trespass into a field and just dance 'till the sun comes up. Since summer has so much caution thrown towards the wind you can only do summer one favor, and that favor is being up for anything.
Adrenaline
Adrenaline is chemistry's way of saying, "I'm not sure what you are doing but it must be really good or really bad." It's when you sit there staring at her lips waiting to kiss her but you just can't make the move. As soon as you burst through the fear and embrace the moment, your heart starts beating fast from adrenaline. Don't worry, her heart was beating fast too.
Comfort Zone
The comfort zone has to be evicted. Summer is the sixty plus days of time to get life without worries done. Netflix all day is only acceptable two times a week. If you've never been cow tipping do it. If you've never seen a cow, take a drive through the country and find one. Lose the comfort zone and get comfortable with adapting to many situations.
There are too many factors that create the best summer memories, that there is no way one formula can do the millions of summers the Earth has seen justice. There are certain songs, certain places, and people that all add together to make a memory we would give anything to return to. We are young and we need to have the time of our lives before school starts again. Take it all in. Feel everything now so you can think about how you feel later when it's not so hot out. If you're reading this you've already lost time on having the time of your life.
Happy summer!
