Take Me Back To London

Why Studying Abroad Was The Best And Worst Thing To Happen To Me

Studying abroad is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity that not everyone gets. It teaches you a lot about yourself, the world, and those around you. The four months that I spent in London were the best four months of my life, and I would give anything to go back.

Here are some reasons why it was both the best and worst thing to happen to me.

It was the best because…

1. I got to live in a European city for four months.

2. I got to travel all over Europe--seven countries and endless cities in four short months.

3. I met other international students from all over the world.

4. I had three-day weekends, every single weekend.

5. I was legal to drink alcohol.

6. I got to learn firsthand about other cultures.

7. I developed skills that could never be developed in a classroom.

8. I learned to appreciate other places in the world.

9. I made connections with people in different countries.

10. I became independent in a way that wouldn’t have been made possible without this experience.

11. I learned more about myself as a person.

12. I learned to value my friends and family in a different way.

13. I overcame homesickness.

14. I gained new perspectives on who and what is truly important in life.

15. I had the most unforgettable and life-changing experience and wouldn’t change a thing about it.

It was the worst because…

1. Now I’m back at a small school, in a small town.

2. I miss it every day.

3. I can’t just hop on public transportation to go exploring.

4. I can’t buy a plane ticket to Ireland for 30 Euros.

5. It is just a memory now.

6. Sometimes I feel out of place at school or home.

7. I miss it every day.

8. The adjustment to being home is much harder than the adjustment of being away.

9. I want to go back, but don’t have the funds because I spent all of my money while I was there.

10. It only happens once.

If you have the opportunity to study abroad, take it. It will change your life in so many ways. It will teach you to grow up in ways that you didn’t think were possible. It will open your eyes to the world around you and will teach you to be adventurous and take chances. It will change you as an individual, and it’ll be the most memorable experience of your life!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
