I was always the girl that said I would never join a sorority because I always thought it was a waste of time and money.

But once I got to college, I changed my tune. I ended up going through formal recruitment and finding my home in Alpha Chi Omega.

Yes, there are a lot of people who believe that Greek life is a waste of time and money, but with everything, you have to put something in it to get something out. And the age-old statement that "Sorority girls are just paying for friends" is completely incorrect.

Being on the executive board for my chapter has shown me that the money that you pay in your dues will also help pay for all the events, like the movie night where you got to eat free pizza. It's only free for you then because of the dues that get paid by every member.

The formal and semi-formal are all because of the dues, as well, and some of the shirts that you don't have to pay for are because of this. There are so many fun things that you get to do, and so many experiences that you can't get anywhere else.

It helps you get out of your comfort zone because it makes you talk to a lot of people and go to a lot of events that you may not have been likely to go to.

Best of all, though, it helps you find lifelong friends and make connections with people that will last forever.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
