8 Reasons Why October Is, Indeed, The Best Month

December is jolly because we have Christmas, and June is fun because we are on summer vacation, but October is definitely the superior month.

8 Reasons Why October Is, Indeed, The Best Month

I am a strong believer in the fact that October is the best month. With fall weather, Halloween, football, and an overall feeling of warmth and coziness, October definitely reigns supreme when it comes to the months of the year.

1. October marks the true beginning of fall.

Yes, the first day of fall is technically September 22nd, but it's not until October 1st when you truly feel autumn's ambiance arrive. The weather cools, the leaves change, and there is a feeling of excitement in the air for the upcoming holiday season. Fall offers the best food, the best fashion, and the best holidays, making it, in my opinion, the best season.

2. Halloween is the best holiday.

Giphy

Halloween is the only holiday that allows us to explore our creative sides and take on a new persona. It's a chance to escape from our mundane lives and become something abnormal and exceptional. And of course there's the cute little kids running around in their cute little costumes, getting excited over a fun-sized candy bar. It reminds you that there is still goodness and imagination left in our crazy world.

3. Pumpkin is in EVERYTHING.

Giphy

Call me basic, but I love pumpkin flavored things. You can see me every morning with my pumpkin spice coffee, wearing Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin perfume, and eating a pumpkin flavored breakfast bar — I can't get enough of it. The rest of the year, I completely ignore anything pumpkin related, but the second the calendar hits October, my brain goes into pumpkin overload mode, and I can't seem to eat or smell anything else. And c'mon, you have to admit… you're the same way too.

4. TV shows return, and air Halloween episodes.

Giphy

The greatest TV shows make their return in the fall — from "This Is Us" to "Supernatural" to "The Good Place," there is something for everyone on air. In addition to all your favorite shows returning, there are also special Halloween episodes. Would it really feel like October without "The Office's" Halloween parties, or "Brooklyn Nine-Nine's" famous annual Halloween heist?

5. The weather is simply the best.

Giphy

You can't argue with me on this one — October is definitely the best month when it comes to weather. It's not too hot, not too cold, and there's only ever a slight chill blowing through the crisp air. Beautiful, golden sunshine mixed with a cool breeze makes for a beautiful autumn morning, and I wouldn't want to have it any other way.

6. The autumn color palette is beautiful.

Giphy

October offers us gorgeous shades of yellow, orange, and red. These colors remind us of warm apple pies, cosy scarves, and pumpkin carving with family. It seems that the trees have one last triumph, expressed through beautiful colors, before they lose their leaves. The warm-toned palette of fall is a reminder of the beauty, warmth, and love that is in our world.

7. Football

Giphy

October means it's time for football season, and football is the perfect fall sport. Whether it's at a high school, college, or NFL game, there's nothing like cuddling up in scarves and hats and watching big guys tackle each other. The feeling of collective effervescence when you are cheering alongside your friends and family makes you have a sense of belonging. You don't even have to be paying attention to the game — as long as you are smiling alongside the people you love, there is a strong feeling of comfort.

8. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Giphy

Yes, my favorite holiday is Halloween, but Christmas is a very close second. And despite all the excitement surrounding the month of October and its fall festivities, you can't help getting excited for Christmas and its special magic. This time of year, you begin to see Christmas ads playing on TV and holiday decorations lining the shelves of stores. Between the youthful and giddy excitement of Halloween, you can't help but feel like a rosy-cheeked kid again when Christmas is near.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
