Three...two...one! Happy New Year! Everyone cheers, everyone kisses, everyone's so happy, and everyone loves the new year. FALSE, New Year's Eve is the absolute worst holiday. I love holidays. They are the best. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Halloween, and the Fourth of July are all great and fun, but not the dreaded day of New Year's Eve. It is safe to say I am the Grinch of New Year's Eve and here's why.
It is the most overrated holiday

Everyone thinks New Year's Eve is like the best night of your life and determines what kind of year the new year will be. If you have a bad night, like I usually do, it does mean you won't have a kick ass year.
Everyone has such high expectations for it
[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2015%2F12%2F06%2F635850376458363444-2067754700_sfdsfsdf.gif&ho=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn1.theodysseyonline.com&s=693&h=f1d3a446c24fc76d553c9ac0109d7072e23984a5c903217a847d87e8de17fc9f&size=980x&c=3333502336 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2015%252F12%252F06%252F635850376458363444-2067754700_sfdsfsdf.gif%26ho%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcdn1.theodysseyonline.com%26s%3D693%26h%3Df1d3a446c24fc76d553c9ac0109d7072e23984a5c903217a847d87e8de17fc9f%26size%3D980x%26c%3D3333502336%22%7D" expand=1]
Everyone expects this night to be life-changing and amazing, but it's not. It is really OK to do nothing for New Year's Eve, it's never really that great anyway. If you don't go out and have the wildest time of your whole life, it really is okay.
You HAVE to kiss someone
[rebelmouse-proxy-image https://media.rbl.ms/image?u=%2Ffiles%2F2015%2F12%2F06%2F635850378620105599-1104114494_kiss.gif&ho=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn1.theodysseyonline.com&s=501&h=c7f9e1f8a374cd8d6c915d8797398347a97f10497f2579cd9936beb6722d4401&size=980x&c=410309378 crop_info="%7B%22image%22%3A%20%22https%3A//media.rbl.ms/image%3Fu%3D%252Ffiles%252F2015%252F12%252F06%252F635850378620105599-1104114494_kiss.gif%26ho%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcdn1.theodysseyonline.com%26s%3D501%26h%3Dc7f9e1f8a374cd8d6c915d8797398347a97f10497f2579cd9936beb6722d4401%26size%3D980x%26c%3D410309378%22%7D" expand=1]
It is now a thing that you absolutely must kiss someone at midnight or it is not a good New Year's Eve, which is ridiculous. There is so much pressure to kiss it just stresses everyone out and makes things weird. You really don't have to kiss someone to make it a good night.
You have to make new year's resolutions

R.I.P. to the all the new year's resolutions that didn't make it past January. All those poor gym memberships that never got used, so sad. You really don't have to wait till the beginning of the new year to make a
change, and you don't have to make any resolutions, because let's all be honest, they do not last.
There is really nothing special about it

You go to a party, you blow some horns and throw some confetti, and then spend the next couple of months putting the wrong date on everything, WooHoo. I know I sound like a negative Nancy, but New Year's Eve is really not that special, it is not worth all the hype.
